🧊-DripEdge-🍭

Popsicles of sorrow stain the wrists
when heated by the scorching rays of regret

These drumsticks continue ceaselessly trickling

Dripping on surfaces you don’t want to dirty

Pristine but not clean

Tired yet inspired

Sticky and still desired

Try as we might…
we lick as we fight
the drip of life from forearms plight

The sweet treat of a cool retreat

Keeping pain discrete
Replete with light galore

We stave off the night before
Stave off hurt…stave in gain

Take off burden…Take in blame

Filling feelings deep within

Healing from scars…Speaking with stars

Taking life on the chin

Reeling from revealed words, etched in finished stick’s mischief

And don’t forget a kerchief’s cleansing propensity
to wipe woes away.

The Lie of You is a drama about a victim of domestic violence who kills her abusive husband. It's a female driven story meant to turn tropes about domestic violence on their heads.
.
.
.
Our hearts go out to everyone who has ever experienced domestic violence. If you are in an abusive relationship, this IS your sign to leave. It’s not too late to leave for the second, or third, or fifth time. Just get out of there and get safe. We don’t want to see you become a headline, a hashtag, or a part of the 75%.

Hard Prayer and Soft hands

Faith in Her Feathers 🐥
By:Kheneil Black

I happened across a baby bird, with haphazard feathers fashioned in despair, a disheveled chirp held together by the glue of desperation, and an abandoned beak starving for an ear to hear its cry for help.

Denial was its language but trust faced forfeiture to my open palm

I ask, do you need help my dear? It proudly shook its head no. If you'll allow ill show you how, one day I'll watch you fly away.

The bird said "please leave me be, you cannot see that I'm beyond reprieve, no space for love, I'm unable to receive.

I cannot fly, don't waste your time for my wings have no retention time. I've been clipped, unable to touch the sky.

I could see this bird needed a hard prayer with soft hands, my calloused comforts became her nest.

Although this strong yet cracked creature rebuked all forms of care, I knew best, seeing her breath egress, it was clear she could do with food and less duress.

The baby bird still choking on words said "I'll be just fine in my own sweet time"

I began to ask of the bird's past, and she answered with a saddened sorrow song, serenading me with tales of the world that did her wrong.

The tree she once held dear was set ablaze and threatened future years, as her tale turned from fresh to burnt she showered me in her fears.

I fed her morsels of my time, and groomed her plume with this bottled light of mine, a medicine not found on any shelf.

I prescribed 24 ccs of Care, 1litre a day of affirmations, weekly doses of tough love, and two spoonfuls of You are a queen every 4 hours or as needed.

This time my faith was in the retreat of the gloom that littered her plume, I knew her feathers would withstand the past weathers.

After a few new moons, decompressing days, and sleepless nights demise

It was no surprise
Tears streamed down my eyes as the baby birds wings began to touch the sky

I fed and watched it grow so proud to watch it go

And my final words to the once ravaged bird

"You see, I told you so"
