Wow! I met and spent time with the most incredible, beautiful souls @watershedceramics 💕
We experienced so much together—the many hours in the studio, an eclipse, the passing of well loved individuals, watching nine to five (my first time 🙌), walking up what felt like the most grueling hill of all time, meeting forest and farm creatures, two soda firings, and watching fall come into the wildflowers with vivid yellows and hints of purples. I wanted to have a place and space for teachers to visit themselves again, or anyone to tap into the uninterrupted creativity that keeps their fire burning and I think we all found that @watershedceramics
💕Thank you lovely people for growing with me and teaching me so much in the two weeks we had together. How the laughter echoed everywhere we went. Until we meet again 🌕🌲🦞I can’t wait to laugh with you all again 🫐🏺🐏

Birthday ring for @ariesfiredpot! Aries gave me this glaze dripping from one of their ceramics projects, so I decided to use it as a cabochon. I included my signature hidden roll printing on the inside of the band. I’ve been really into matte scratchy finishes recently, I think it suits them well. 😁

Last month, Souper Bowl LX brought together artists, chefs, neighbors, and longtime supporters for an afternoon rooted in creativity and care. We’re proud to continue our partnership with Haley House and MassArt’s Clay for Change—now more than 15 years strong—through this beloved annual tradition.

Attendees chose from hundreds of handmade ceramic bowls crafted by MassArt students, then filled them with generous servings of soups, chilis, and chowders prepared by local chefs. Each bowl carried a story; each conversation reflected the spirit of community that makes this event so special.

The room was alive with connection, laughter, and shared purpose—all in support of Haley House’s vital food and housing justice programs; work that strengthens our neighborhoods year-round.

To the students, volunteers, chefs, staff, and community members who made the afternoon shine: thank you for showing up with such heart. We’re already looking forward to next year. 💛

Big ups to @massart_crmx, @ariesfiredpot, @odenlake, and @josephine.burr in particular.

Cone 10, Soda Fired cups. Set of 6.

New cherished artifact alert 🚨‼️🚨🗣️🗣️A set that I made as a gift for @rosecflynn !! I had no expectations for these, in fact only expected 4 or 5 to return out of the kilns, but to my surprise all 6 came out lovely in their own ways 😌

Big shout out and many thanks to @ariesfiredpot for taking such good care of my pots 💗💗

Here are our awesome Clay for Change reps, Aries and Owen!

The clay for change sga group is responsible for community outreach programs for the ceramics department. They are partnered with Haley House, an organization that runs a soup kitchen, affordable housing, and many other programs that support the people of Boston. On October 26, from 10-1, they are running the Ceramics Souperbowl, an open event for all students and alumni to come together and create bowls, which are sold at a fundraising event for Haley House. They also partner with the Massart CACP!

We have our first student intro of the semester, starting with one of our clay 4 change reps Aries! @ariesfiredpot 🌟

Aries Green (they/them) is a junior in ceramics, and a Clay 4 Change rep. Look out for the bowl making day coming up in October! They are from Michigan, and their most recent works call on the Great Lakes, and what they symbolize to them. They are looking forward to NCECA in Detroit this year! Over the summer they were an intern at Community Kiln in Framingham, now turned studio assistant. They also had the pleasure of attending the New England Wood Firing Conference. They participated in two wood firings, one with Micah Thanhauser (Merry Farm Pottery), and another with Mike Roche. They’re stoked about atmospheric firings, and all things fish!

The @theajdfoundation was honored to sponsor 10 scholarships for young and upcoming artists to attend the @newenglandwfc this past week. As I often say, AJ had a rare mix of left and right brain talents. Ceramics was a mainstay passion of his and we are proud to support this amazingly talented and growing community of wood fired potters. A special thank you to everyone who supports our golf outing that allows AJ to have a continued impact on the communities he was part of.
