København Half Marathon 🇩🇰

21.1K through the streets of Copenhagen, now slowly becoming one of my favourite distances to race after the full marathon. 🏃🏻‍♂️

An amazing experience with no big expectations going into the race. Started out cruising with @jaigupta_10 for the first 10K, then settled into a conservative pace from 11–15K before pushing through the final 6K. 🔥

Congratulations @jaigupta_10 for breaking sub90 🙌

And somehow managed to spot @ritzgg2209 twice along the course, which made the race even more special. ❤️ First of many 🤗

Fun day of running with good company 🙌

Signed up for this race about a year ago, long before I had any idea what training would actually look like going into it.

Ran a marathon back in May and told myself I'd take it easy after. That mostly happened and speed wasn't part of my training for months. Race day kept getting closer, and with about 45 days left, I finally got back into real training.

1:32:42 @wrrccopenhagen26 Half Marathon 2026 🇩🇰

A 49 min. 10K a few weeks before the race wasn't exactly reassuring, so I kept the plan simple to go out around 4:29/km, stay in control, and adjust based on how the middle miles felt.

5K - 21:54
10K - 44:05
15K - 1:06:11
20K - 1:28:14

Felt good enough with 2K to go that I pushed the last stretch with 4:05/km for the final 1.1K.

Finished in 1:32:42, which was better than I expected walking into this one.

It wasn't a full training block or an ideal buildup. Still one of the more rewarding races I've had in a while.

The other big part of this trip was spending a few days with some amazing friends I hadn't seen in years. Good to finally catch up in person that made the whole trip.

Copenhagen Half - Done. What's next though?

On the streets of Copenhagen tomorrow, running half the distance of my favourite distance to run.
@cphhalf @wrrccopenhagen26

And somewhere along the course, for the first time, I’ll have Ritu cheering me at international race.❤️

Time to have fun! 🥳

Wrapped up a rather solid week (#7) of training, for the @frankfurtmarathon with this soul cleansing, 26k long run. 😇

Being the longest run since the Seoul marathon in March, it was no walk in the park but the weather really helped! Got some rain in the middle that made those middle draggy miles rather enjoyable. In fact, this inadvertently turned into a progressive run from the 12th k onwards.

The original plan was to run 16k easy followed by 6k at 5-5:08/k followed by 2k CD. Started as per plan, at a 6-6:30 pace. But then the rain picked up, right around when I was starting to feel great! So cranked up the music, and just went with the flow. A few kms in, I realized that I'd steadily worked up from 6:15 to 5:40/k, so figured I'd just progressively make my way up to the 5:08 I'm supposed to run after 18k.
It was super nice out, even though the rain started to taper off.

Delhi looks absolutely gorgeous in the rain! I had wide-open tree lined roads of Lutyens' Delhi to run through, and managed to let go of any route plans, I turned onto whatever road looked traffic-free and inviting. Running in the rain also brings out the child in me. The only difference now is that I'm hopping to avoid the puddles rather than splashing through them. 😆

By the time I got to 18k, the rain had completely stopped and it got a little humid. I managed to hit that 5:08 on the dot on the 1st 2k of the 6k block. The legs, lungs, and energy levels all felt good! But the air started to feel a little heavy. But somehow managed to pick up the pace further, as the end got nearer. So I ended up running that 6k block as a progressive as well! Ran the 3rd k at 5:06, then 5:03, 5:02, 4:58, and 4:52/k before cooling down for 2k as planned. 😇

Thursday's tempo wasn't nearly as much fun to run, in fact it was a true test of mental grit and determination to get through that 8k tempo in horrid humidity.

I was going into this run rather tired, with the build up from the week, so much so that I was questioning running the tempo all the way up to the end of the warm up.
Even after I started, I was questioning all my life choices that had gotten me to that point.

And while the 1st k of the tempo

It's been a few weeks since I've posted, well it's been 2 at least. Finally starting to regain some confidence in my pace and. Been breathing a little easier (read: dying a little less) on the harder runs, lately. The weather's been kind, although it's thrown some new challenges, like water wading! 😅

Today's long(ish) run was made "funner" than intended, by running with @arijitraja who had 3x 3k @ sub 4:45/k as part of his long run. Luckily, I didn't get too carried away, and only joined him for 2 of those repeats. But quite enjoyed the faster paces. The weather was strangely pleasant today, humidity was much lower, and there was a slight breeze, despite the temperature still being a little warmer. But I'll take it over the 95% humidity!

The other person that made this run "funner" was my strength trainer @sgrjl, who took full advantage of my down week to ramp up strength intensity! 😖
To be fair, it was my great idea to shake up the strength routine to do a dedicated leg day on Tempo Thursday. Previously, I'd do 3 full body workouts, including legs, on Mon, Wed, and Friday. All of which were before hard runs so I'd go into them with sore legs. So after speaking to a few experienced runners (and subsequently to my friend, Claude), I learnt that stacking the load to do legs on the same day as speedwork allows for more recovery time. So, decided to move to a push, pull, and legs routine. And while that seemed to work, the increased number of exercises per body part, kind of negated the point of the down week. 😄

But then again, I couldn't have dealt with this on a regular mileage week. And while mileage is down this week, the intensity sure isn't!

Swipe to see how the 2 speed sessions and the rest of the week panned out >

Joined @iamrohitpathak for some broken miles on Thursday. My plan had 5x800m but being a down week, I wasn't too worried about changing it up a little. Plus doing 5x 1k@6:00/k + 600m @ sub 4:25/k didn't seem like too big a departure in terms of load, volume, or paces, from what my plan had.

Rather enjoyed this run, felt really good and controlled on those 600m repeats. Did them in 4:24, 4:24, 4:23, 4:22, & 4:16/k. Most of those reps were
