“Lost Tapes” backlogs of photos taken by Arms1 @arms1 . Most of these have never been shared before. Used A.I. to stitch the first three photos together into one frame. Still one of my favourite field trips, second only to Makkah.

Some might say The Substation is dead but we’re not going anywhere. 🙂 We’re throwing a little social mixer and get-together as part of our annual Gathering Ground to celebrate The Sub’s 36 years in the biz and all the wins (and losses) that come with it. Find out what we’ve been up to recently, and what’s ahead for The Sub; get to know the team behind the scenes and some of the artists we’ve been working with recently. There’ll be pizza, and after-party beats by vinyl music selector Arms1. It’s a BYOB event and contributions to our food table are more than welcome. This is a call to all who’ve ever crossed paths with The Substation, been part of its journey in one way or another or you kaypoh simply want to know what’s up–come mix & mingle, (re)connect and live laugh love with us this 22 Sep. Admission is free and everyone’s welcome. RSVP now on www.substation.org!

The Takeover: Root Down at Jungle Ballroom. The Talent: “Martsu” Masato Hika (@martsu_whatever) and Yuto Anzai (@anz.yuto) joining DJ Arms and Team Jungle Ballroom. At times humorous, at times fleeting, these photographs leave you with a sense of being gently handed a small token of the author’s affection. 焦亦真 will also be performing live as 周士爵. We hope you enjoy both sides of his work - the photography and the live performance.

Containing more than 500 photographs, it captures ordinary moments from streets and daily life through a simple and direct perspective. Street snapshots, text-based photography, and poetic editing intertwine, creating a rhythm and atmosphere that feels almost musical despite being a photo book. Much like the attitude behind saying, “I have 10,000 favorite songs,” the work embraces small moments of beauty and curiosity found in everyday life with equal attention. Its charm lies in its sense of enjoying life itself.
