We’re proud to be supporting the Army Benevolent Fund once again with the Clogau® Poppy Pin Badge. Last year, we achieved an incredible fundraising total, but this year, we’re hoping to go one better. Let’s see if we can raise even more and beat our record for this fantastic cause!

More Than Just Horses | Connection, Confidence & Wellbeing

Sometimes, the most meaningful progress comes from taking time to pause, reflect and reconnect.

From 29th September to 1st October, five Armed Forces veterans supported by Fighting With Pride joined us at Shrivenham Equestrian Centre for a three-day wellbeing programme, in partnership with HorseBack UK.

Through equine-assisted learning, shared experiences and practical wellbeing activities, participants explored new ways to build confidence, develop self-awareness and support their wellbeing.

The feedback was incredibly encouraging, highlighting the value of working alongside horses, connecting with others who share similar experiences, and having the space to reflect and reset.

We are very grateful to HorseBack UK for their expertise and dedication in delivering the programme, and to Fighting With Pride for their collaboration and continued support of the Armed Forces community.

A special thank you to the Veterans Foundation, Army Benevolent Fund and Greenwich Hospital whose generous support helps make opportunities like these possible.

Swipe through to discover the experiences and impact of these three days.

🙏 Support from the @armybenevolentfund this year has enabled us to maintain our rapid-response model and continue expanding access to treatment across the United Kingdom. All as demand continues to grow ⬆️ ⬆️ ⬆️

💬 SH: UK Veteran

“I’m much better able to recognise and control negative emotions, before they become damaging. And get me into trouble… I do feel so much better in myself, overall.

“Besides the obvious, psychological, mental health benefits - therapy has set me off on the physical side. Which is really, really important to me, getting myself back together. So because I’ve been better up top, I’ve been more optimistic, and I’ve had more motivation to get out and carry on trying to get better. Doing exercise.

“The two are working symbiotically together. The body’s getting better and the brain’s getting better. Yeah, it’s kind of linked and I’m really happy.

“This was the best move I made. I’ve not looked back. I’m looking forward to getting better and making a full recovery, from an ‘impossible-to-recover’ stroke.

“Thank you so much.”

🇬🇧 3 Battalion REME – 457 Challenge 🇬🇧

Today, 3 Battalion REME came together to take on the Army Benevolent Fund’s 457 Challenge.

The number 457 represents the British Armed Forces personnel who lost their lives during the Afghanistan campaign 🇦🇫.

Marking 25 years since the campaign began, this challenge was about more than just physical fitness. It was about remembering those who made the ultimate sacrifice, recognising those who returned wounded, and supporting the families whose lives were changed forever.

457 lives. Never forgotten. ❤️

Over the weekend I did my first, and hopefully not my last, tandem skydive! I can’t even explain how amazing it felt and I wish I could have stayed up there forever! Roll on April 🪂
It felt even more incredible as I was doing this to raise money for the @armybenevolentfund, this is a charity that I believe does some of the best work to help those who protect us and those who have. I’ve smashed the target fundraiser and I’m aiming to keep going!! Very grateful to the ABF for cheering me on and especially to Stu who came out both days to support! 🎯💰 if you’d like to donate , link is in bio!
And thanks to @skydivelangar for allowing me this experience, keeping me safe and making the afternoon so fun! And a thanks to Jake my instructor for pushing me out and giving a safe landing! I’ll be seeing you again soon, 14,000ft is actually a pretty good view 💓

Wednesday Weekly Challenge Review 💪🏻

For anyone that knows me, I love a challenge!

Today’s challenge … the BYU (Back Yard Ultra)! 4.167miles on the hour, every hour for 24hrs; or as long as you can hold on until then! If more than 1 remains for the last ‘Yard’ the race is on!

This is a mental challenge as much as physical! The head will always want to quit before the body actually needs too! Self preservation!

To make this one even more ‘special’ each ‘yard’ is 5.5 loops on concrete! No half measures! But all for a great cause @armybenevolentfund & thanks to @royallogisticcorps for their support as always!

Today is Me VS Me! Let’s see what’s in the locker!

This challenge can apply to anyone, it’s about pushing your own personal limits, be that 10km, 100km or the 100mile point! You vs you!

Back to normal schedule next week with a great submission to attempt! If you see anything you’d like me to try, send it over and I’ll let you know how I get on 😅😎

BUY A VETERAN A PINT 🍺

There’s something new on the bar at Stump Rat.

Buy a pint for a veteran, write them a note and pop it in the jar.

If you’re serving or have served, take a note from the jar, bring it to the bar and your pint has already been paid for.

No questions. No fuss.
Just a little pint of appreciation from one person to another.

We’ve put the first few in ourselves, so there are already pints waiting.

Serving or served? There might be a pint in the jar waiting for you.

Know someone who should know about this? Send it their way. 🍺
