We are at the @hsdff to premiere TAMPONS & TAXES. Arkansas is one of the 18 states charging sales tax on menstrual products. With the city of Hot Springs tax…it’s an extra 9.5%!!! Four packages of products added up to $40!!! Is that fair??? Thanks to the the work of @arperiodproject @arkansaswomensoutreach @morechances_period for the work they are doing to change this in Arkansas!!! Special shoutout to Rep Denise Ennett @denisefor36 @deniseennettforarkansas who has been leading the push with legislation!! And donate to our products drive today before the film fest ends!!

Although I can’t attend tonight, I remain committed to advocating for menstrual equity and expanding access to essential hygiene supplies across Arkansas. Events like this remind us that policy change begins with awareness, community, and courage. When we learn, we lead, and when we lead, we make a difference.
I encourage everyone who can attend to go, listen, and be inspired. Together, we can continue pushing for a future where no Arkansan is held back by lack of access to basic period products.
Let’s keep moving forward.

Yesterday, my mom had the incredible opportunity to personally deliver a copy of my books, “Clean Start” and “Dee the Ducky Helps with Hygiene”, along with a letter I wrote about period poverty and how eliminating the period tax could make a meaningful difference for women and girls across Arkansas.
Sharing these resources with the Governor was an important step in raising awareness about the challenges so many face when accessing basic hygiene supplies. As a teen advocate who has spent years working to expand hygiene access in our communities, I truly believe that removing the period tax would ease financial strain and help ensure no student or woman has to miss school or work because she can’t afford essential products.
I’m grateful for the chance to elevate this conversation, and I’m hopeful for continued progress toward a more equitable Arkansas.
