🎨✨ One historic mill. Four local artists. Our #hhCultureDays fall road trip is heading to Glen Williams!

Make Williams Mill Creative Arts Studios a stop on your Open Studios day trip and step inside the working spaces of four local artists:

🎨 Lisa Knie creates colourful abstract works in acrylic and mixed media, painting intuitively through expression, feeling and experimentation.

🖌️ Step inside Pauline Gladstone’s The Spark Studio, a spectacular light-filled space with thick stone walls, eight-foot windows, high ceilings and giant beams. Pauline explores still life, nature, landscapes, abstraction and portraiture, with realism forming the foundation of her painted stories.

🖼️ Anita Van Zeumeren, a graduate of the Academy of Realist Art, creates detailed oil paintings on traditional surfaces and unexpected materials including silver leaf and slate. Her practice also includes mosaics and resin work.

✨ Mary Ellen Farrow has been sculpting in stone for more than 35 years, working in limestone, marble, alabaster and soapstone at scales ranging from miniature to monumental. Her flowing, tactile sculptures explore movement and emotion, sometimes with a touch of humour! Her commissioned public works can be found across Ontario, including in the Haliburton Sculpture Forest.

📍 Williams Mill Creative Arts Studios
515 Main St., Glen Williams

Explore the studios, meet the artists and discover some of the incredible work being created right here in Halton Hills.

🗺️ Plan your Open Studios day trip: map link in bio.

More stops are coming throughout the morning!

A long due post!

Earlier this month we had a lovely visit by @tamaragrandart to our neck of the woods.
Thanks to @bdreade_art for organizing a lovely lunch where we got to hang out with artist friends and catch up with all the news, a very interesting conversations indeed. We were joined by @b.mccaffertyart @marg.dugganjones.studio and @art.quility.

We also did a swap of wee art to take back as a lovely memento of our afternoon together.
I was lucky to receive a beautiful piece by @art.quility to add to my collection of smalls. Swipe to see the little piece.

@art.quility “Deconstructed” got a face lift. 5 years ago, prior to CVP, I took @nicholaswilton ‘s Spark. I wanted to paint like him (last slide). I liked what I did (2nd slide), but it languished in the studio. Then I heard him say “same-same” and I understood why I didn’t love my painting - everything was the same size. Now, everything old is new again.

A fun afternoon taking in the Art Scene in Georgetown/ Glen Williams.

A group of @watersideartgroup artists/ @art2life_world artists spent a happy afternoon visiting the TownHall to see @deborahmarieart ‘s installation in the Mayor’s Showcase. Then we visited the Helson Gallery to take in the @colour_and_form_society ‘s 73rd Juried Show. I am lucky to have my piece Meghaja selected for this show.

That was followed by a visit to @art.quility’s studio at the beautiful Glen Williams Mill.

It’s always the best time to be had when spending an afternoon with our Art Buddies.

The Colour and Form Society’s Exhibition is a must see. It’s on till this weekend.

@art.quility Volcano.
The climb challenged me physically and emotionally. I wanted to quit a dozen times, but somehow made it to the summit. Today my muscles ache, but I’m proud of what I can do when I push through the discomfort and perceived limitations.

@art.quility Question of the day: How far can I push value without becoming a white painting? Further than I thought!

@art.quility It felt great to just make marks. I was tempted to tidy it up, but chose to tell only 90% of the story instead.

@art.quility Silver Lining.
As my time in paradise nears its end, I’m so appreciative of the beauty that inspired me here these past 30 days. Yes, this place is beautiful and so is Home. It’s the differences that light us up. ✨
