Youth-founded nonprofit.
We bring vibrant artwork into pediatric hospital spaces, because art heals.
This is why we paint👇🏻

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

In Case You Missed It: On October 16, we celebrated Disability Mentoring Day at the Visual Arts Center of New Jersey with arts, culture, and care workers, partners, and neighbors.

We shared a talk on chronic illness and mental wellness, a play reading, a Know Your Rights in the Workplace session, an info fair in the lobby, and a sensory-friendly art space. We also created 6 pieces of artwork for pediatric hospital spaces.

Thank you to everyone who presented, tabled, interpreted, described, created, and showed up. Arts work is care work is access work.

The full recap, with every thank-you and what’s coming next (including my Winter classes at VACNJ), is in the newsletter: https://bit.ly/DMD-Recap

May we embody Rest, Joy, and Justice.

🎨💛 Canvas of Hope 💛🎨

Creating through art, building community, and coming together in unity! Watching families connect through creativity reminded me that art is more than paint on a canvas—it’s a way to spread kindness, joy, and hope. 🖌️✨

A special highlight was The Gorgonia Experience, created in honor of Ms. Carol, Caroline Gorgonia Thomas. 💛 Her daughter shared that the boxes represent her mother’s love and kindness—“It’s Ms. Carol in a box!” Each box includes encouragement, a piece of her story, support for local entrepreneurs, and thoughtful goodies designed to bring comfort and joy. 🎁💛

That’s what community is about: sharing love, uplifting one another, and making a difference through simple acts of kindness.

The best part? Our beautiful canvases will bring sunshine to children in pediatric units. 🌈

🍋💛 When Life Gives You Lemons, Make Lemonade. 💛🍋

I share my story in hopes of reminding us all that even when life takes an unexpected turn, we can still find purpose, strength, and beauty in the journey.

Imagine waking up one day and realizing you can no longer speak. Imagine having to relearn how to communicate, finding new ways to express yourself, and grieving a part of your life you never imagined losing.

It took me six years to finally reach a place where I feel comfortable embracing this new normal. Six years of learning, adjusting, accepting, and discovering that even without my physical voice, I still have a story worth sharing and a message worth hearing. 💛

Acceptance didn’t happen overnight. It was a journey of giving myself grace, finding my strength, and learning that my circumstances may have changed, but my purpose has not.

Sometimes life doesn’t give us the lemons we expect, but we can still choose what we make with them. 🍋✨

If my story reminds even one person that life can change in an instant, but hope can carry us through, then sharing it is worth it.

I may have lost my voice, but I haven’t lost my ability to inspire, connect, create, or make a difference. 💛

🎨💛 CANVAS OF HOPE 💛🎨

Creating through art. Building community. Coming together in unity. 🖌️✨

Canvas of Hope was a beautiful reminder of what we can accomplish when we come together with kindness, creativity, and a shared purpose. Watching families connect through art and seeing the smiles they shared made this initiative truly special. 💛

A heartfelt thank you to my friends Jenny and Melissa for their love and support! Jenny of Escape with Colors created the pre-designed canvases, and Melissa provided the beautiful self-care boxes. 🎨🎁💛

We also enjoyed delicious cookies from Sweet Kiki Mingo! 🍪✨

🎙️👑 Special appreciation to Kalani, Little Miss Miami Broward Queen, for reading the audio featured in our Canvas of Hope video! Thank you for being part of sharing this beautiful message. 💛

The most meaningful part? These paintings will be gifted to children in pediatric units, sharing color, kindness, and hope with children who need a little extra sunshine. 🌈💛

This year, our community painted 20 pieces of art for the children at Mission Children’s Hospital.

I struggled with my own health as a child, and I remember how scary hospitals can feel. That’s why the mission of @art2hearts, bringing art and hope to young patients, touched my heart so much.

Thank you to @remixitavl for hosting our Paint It Forward workshops, and to every student who gave their time and kindness. Your paintings will brighten a child’s day in ways you may never see.
