So it turns out that last weekend’s triathlon was a piece of cake compared to this weekend’s adventures!

We completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge yesterday in 12 hours (12.04 for me!). I must admit I did have some trepidation during the week especially after last weekend. However, I convinced myself it was just a a walk! Honestly it was the hardest thing I’ve ever done. After the second peak I came so close to quitting because my feet were on fire. I wore my very comfy hiking boots but 12 hours of relentless walking with very few stops takes its toll. It’s a mental game in the end and I seem to be able to push through when the going gets tough.

Having started out at 6am in mist and drizzle, the clouds cleared later to give us an unexpectedly spectacular day. My calves and my blistered feet are speaking to me today but otherwise I’m feeling pretty good all things considered.

Ingleborough, Pen-y-Ghent and Whernside you were magnificent. What a gift to be able to do it with my family (minus 1) too. I’m forever grateful they want to join me and push themselves.

Will take a few weeks off to consider my next challenge for this birthday year! Give me some ideas for the next one?
