You may have noticed some new artwork in the gallery… this is the work of @artjackberry a local young artist. Jack is temporarily joining us as a guest artist for this exhibition in place one of our artists who was unable to display his own work, so donated their space to an upcoming talent. #artistssupportartists To find out more about his work, practice and his inspiring story, check out his profile. Well done Jack your work looks fantastic up on the gallery wall and there are some red dots up there already!

First art class (water colours) of my time off this morning courtesy of the lovely Kerry @theartroomsunderland The aim was ‘whimsical mother/lady of the forest’ (I think). Mine came out more ‘Ru Paul on a picnic at a National Trust property’. As my first boss at work said to me many years ago - ‘talent will out, and so will lack of it’. #art #watercolours #whimsy #rupaul #nationaltrust

🎨 Artist: Jack Berry @artjackberry We are honored to feature Jack Berry, an artist whose work speaks from a place of courage, identity, and resilience. Jack lives with autism and refractory epilepsy, meaning he continues to experience seizures despite being on medication. While epilepsy presents ongoing challenges, art has become his freedom. For Jack, art is more than expression — it is independence. It is a space where he defines himself. It is a canvas that says: “This is me.” Art does not judge him. It does not label him. It does not reduce him to a diagnosis. Through his work, Jack shows the world that he is not what epilepsy tries to limit him to. He is creative, capable, and fully himself. The Missing Man Painting- is dedicated to Squadron Leader Mark Long who passed away in 2024. our own. At AWE, we believe art changes perception — and Jack’s work reminds us that identity is not defined by a medical condition, but by the voice we choose to share. #ArtistsWithEpilepsy #A.w.e #epilepsylife #ArtAsHealing #ArtWithPurpose

Water colour class today. The task was to paint something ‘spooky’ but not so frightening as to terrify the children and more nervous adults present. Count Duckula it was. The stages of its creation are shown in the photos as are some of the other pictures painted today (last pic). I sort of regret inking it at the end. I used to work with a lady who reminded me of Nanny. I am not sure she would appreciate the comparison but you have to call it as you see it. @theartroomsunderland @creativecalligraphyuk @horrordromestation @countduckulauk @rubywax @cosgrovehallfilmsarchive @thamestvarchive @ghastly_glamour #countduckula #countduckulafanart #countduckulafans #cosgrove #cosgrovehall #cosgrovehallfilms #davidjason #rubywax #dangermouse #80scartoons #thamestv #thamestvarchive #retro #retrocartoons #retrocartoons80s #halloween #art #watercolour #watercolourart #mixedmediaartist
