Two inclined tourbillons, a transparent sapphire case, and hand-finished details everywhere you look. The ArtyA Genève Complexity Métiers d’Art is haute horlogerie at its most unconventional. Limited to just nine individually numbered pieces, this 42mm watch houses two cônillons — inclined tourbillon regulators with tilted balances that follow a conical path. Rotating in opposite directions every 30 seconds, they’re connected by a differential designed to average their rates and optimize chronometric performance. The hand-wound Complexity-01 caliber comprises 287 components and delivers a 50-hour power reserve. Meanwhile, the curved sapphire case, with its two magnifying domes, offers an unobstructed view of the mechanical spectacle and the extensive handmade decorations. But how does a €190,000-plus watch like this actually wear? Lex went hands-on to find out. ⌚️ MAISON LUNORI SPOTLIGHT 🇨🇭 ARTYA GENÈVE COMPLEXITY MÉTIERS D’ART ✨ Even the parts you might overlook have been dressed for the occasion. Founded in Geneva in 2009 by Yvan Arpa, ArtyA has never been shy about mechanical spectacle. Here, the closer we look, the more the craftsmanship takes over. 🌀 The architecture debuted at Watches & Wonders 2026: two inclined tourbillons, called Cônillons, at 12 and 6 o’clock, connected by a differential inside sculpted sapphire. ArtyA presents this combination as a world premiere. Each cage rotates in 30 seconds, its tilted balance tracing a conical path. The differential averages the two regulators’ rates. Two beating hearts, one shared rhythm. 🎨 But the Métiers d’Art rewards a slower gaze. An artisan engraves the dial line by line. Hammered bridges gain depth; perlage fills recesses; polished bevels illuminate the edges. Black rhodium provides the shadows. Every tilt of the wrist changes the scene. 💎 The sapphire case demands over 120 hours of diamond machining and 140 hours of polishing. Twin domes bring the moving cages closer to the eye. 📏 Case: 42 mm wide × 48 mm long ↔️ Lug to lug: not separately published 📐 Thickness: 13 mm, with raised domes 💧 Water resistance: not published ⚙️ Complexity 01, manual, developed with Purtec 💎 44 jewels · 287 components 💓 21,600 vph · 🔋 50 hours 🔢 Nine numbered pieces 💰 Sapphire: CHF 190,000 ≈ $228,000 Ruby: CHF 220,000 ≈ $264,000 Excluding taxes; USD approximate. The tourbillons draw us in. The traces of the artisan’s hand keep us looking. ℹ️ Maison Lunori is not affiliated with ArtyA. #MaisonLunori #ArtyA #IndependentWatchmaking #MetiersDArt #HauteHorlogerie

Why would anyone tilt a tourbillon? For Episode 3 of Masters of Chronometry, @wei_koh_revolution and @constant.kw trace inclined tourbillion, a horological idea that stretches back more than 165 years, from an almost forgotten American pocket watch to some of the most ambitious tourbillons being created today. The story begins with Andrew Holden Potter, the Boston watchmaker who created the earliest known inclined-balance tourbillon, only for his achievement to be repeatedly confused with that of another American watchmaker, Albert Henry Potter. Then came Walter Prendel. Working in Saxony in the late 1920s, he created an extraordinary six-minute tourbillon with progressively inclined escapement components and a balance set at 30 degrees. From there, the story moves to @greubel.forsey Greubel Forsey, where inclination became a defining pursuit and, crucially, one that could be tested through chronometry. It continues through Éric Coudray, @hytwatches HYT, @jaegerlecoultre Jaeger-LeCoultre and @artyawatch ArtyA, each finding new ways to change the oscillator’s relationship with gravity. The inclined tourbillon may look like mechanical theatre, but its roots lie in a very serious question about precision. Masters of Chronometry Ep. 3, now on YouTube.
