Dining at @asakura.la in #santamonica was an extraordinary culinary experience—an elegant and immersive exploration of #japanesecuisine that beautifully bridges the precision of #omakase with the seasonality, balance, and refinement of #kaiseki From the moment we arrived, the experience felt exceptionally personal and thoughtfully curated. The chef was remarkably professional, warm, and engaging, creating an intimate atmosphere where the meal became an interactive dialogue between the kitchen and the guests. The direct engagement with the chef throughout the meal made each course feel like part of a carefully orchestrated culinary narrative rather than simply a sequence of dishes. Every detail reflected an impressive degree of thoughtfulness, from the presentation and pacing to the interplay of seasonal ingredients and carefully layered flavors. The meal showcased an impressive progression of textures and flavors, beginning with delicate seafood preparations and moving through beautifully composed appetizers, seasonal soup, cold noodles, premium A5 Kyoto beef, and a deeply satisfying clay pot rice course. The A5 Kyoto beef steak was undoubtedly the highlight of the evening—luxurious, beautifully prepared, and exceptionally memorable. The truffle clay pot rice provided a comforting yet refined conclusion to the savory courses, while the desserts offered a delicate and refreshing finish. Overall, Asakura offers a remarkable experience from beginning to end, and one I would wholeheartedly recommend to anyone seeking an intimate, interactive, and sophisticated Japanese dining experience in the #losangeles area! Cheers! 🍻 A5 Kyoto Beef Steak 10/10 Sea Urchin & Seared Scallop with Ginger Gelée 8/10 Black Cod with Crab Soup & Melon in Prosciutto 9/10 Truffle Clay Pot Rice with Miso Soup 9/10 Seasonal Fish and Winter Melon Soup 8/10 Cold Noodles with Smoked Fish Roe 9/10 White Coffee Blancmange 8/10 Black Sesame Sorbet 9/10 Total Score 9/10
