This pic is the morning prior to my big crash. And the last time I spent in a gym for nine months (ie till now). If I have learnt anything throughout this whole ordeal….never, never, never give up on exercise and lifting weights. Knowing that I wouldn’t be able to work for a while I panicked and thought the short term gain of ‘saving money’ was more important than ‘saving my soul’. Hyperbole yes….but exaggerating..no

Dr Phil Stutz stated “all you have to focus on the start is to get your body working. It always works.” When asked by Jonah Hill in their amazing documentary ‘Stutz’ “on what % of focusing on exercise makes you feel better at first?”, Stutz replied: “when you are starting out, it is probably 85%. It is THE ONE thing that will make you feel instantly better and that is working movement through your body.”

How fkn crazy is that? For decades we were told that exercise is centred on how you look. But never framed on the massively positive impact on how you will think. Or to get positive momentum with your mental health. My overwhelming desire is that this is presented differently as we move forward.

Outside of what Dr Stutz states, exercising (and in particular lifting weights) generates so many positive natural chemicals to keep the negative demons at bay.

How does strength training affect your brain? Hormones and hormone-like substances, the production of which is ramped up during exercise, have been shown to cross from the blood into the brain, triggering changes in its structure and function.

A study, led by Jacob Meyer, published in the June 2018 issue of JAMA Psychiatry, analyzed 33 clinical trials for the effects of resistance exercise on depression. Results showed that resistance exercise “significantly reduced depressive symptoms” among research participants.

Of course, feelings of pride and confidence accompany the mastery of other physical activities, such as aerobic exercise, can also enhance mood. But Meyer believes that resistance training may create greater antidepressive benefits than other forms of exercise. Benefits include: mood improvement; strengthens mind-body connection; lowers stress and anxiety, boosts brain health ❤️

No matter what your profession is. You will be more successful if you trained regularly, and ate well. You will have more energy, more confidence, look better, and people will treat you like the boss that you are or can be ❗❗❗

8 WEEK TRANSFORMATION
-
The king of hitting his step targets Paul!
-
Paul has smashed his first 8 weeks overcoming all odds.
Being a busy professional himself, his schedule can be quite overwhelming however he has never missed a scheduled session! He also had 2 weeks of isolation during this 8 weeks. A massive reason for him getting these results was from going above and beyond by hitting 15k steps per day (even more than what was prescribed 🤯), implementing sustainable changes to his nutrition and obviously smashing his sessions.
-
👇🏼 Results 👇🏼
✅ Reduced blood pressure
✅ Dropped 7kgs
✅ Fitter, faster and stronger
✅ Developed a sustainable lifestyle to keep the fat OFF
-
Congratulations Paul. Look foward to seeing you obtain even more results but also excited for this new sustainable lifestyle that has been created 🙏

SO bloody proud of this team.

@bft_southbank opened when the Melbourne CBD was still essentially closed, with very few people back at work and masks were still mandatory inside.

Over the past 9 Weeks these legends have gone above and beyond to deliver the best possible service to the Southbank community and the continued growth and success of the studio shows just how amazing they are.

Lead by @ascending.fitness and @justynkennewellpt the future is bright! 🌟

Keep hitting those milestones superstars!
