🇬🇧 Imola Classic brought the Le Mans Classic Series 2026 season to a close in Europe with sunshine, mild temperatures and nearly 250 cars on track.

Between the paddocks and the grid, the weekend also had its share of personnalities: Zak Brown, CEO of McLaren Racing, rally world champion Thierry Neuville, five-time Le Mans winner Emanuele Pirro, former F1 driver Jan Magnussen, and Horacio Pagani.

Brun C91. Built by Walter Brun racing team of Switzerland for the 1991 race season. Powered by a Judd 3.5l V8. The car sort of competed in 4 races, Nurburgring, Magny Cours, Mexico and Autopolis Japan unfortunately not able to finish any race due to mechanical issues. Due to lack of funds the car wasn’t able to compete in the 1992 season.

Jaguar XJR-12 J12-C-190. Competed at Le Mans 1990 by Davy Jones, Michel Ferte and Elliseo Salazar. Qualified 7th but DNF due to engine failure. Also competed as Bud Light car. Getting 5th at 12 hours of Sebring 1991 and 10th at Daytona 24 in 1993. Seen here at Spa Classic 2017.

Another spectacular Le Mans Classic Series weekend. My first jaunt to Dix Mille Tours, and despite the humidity doing everything it could to bring me to my knees, I thoroughly enjoyed the weekend, a birthday spent with the best team of creatives, work for our lovely clients and a banquet of historic racing to fill the books.
Now if only Marseille Terminal 2 could try its best to be less awful, it would be lovely before the next visit

EVOLUTION OF THE SPECIES

Many Nissan Cs and GTPs were made starting with March-based models in the mid-80s up until 1992-1993 with the stillborn P35. Here are 5 models seen since last year, starting with the GTP ZX-T fielded by Electramotive in the US, the R90CK and R90CP fielded by the European branch of Nissan (R90CK) and the Japanese one (both), then with the dominant NPTI-run NPT-90 from IMSA GTP and ending with the aforementioned P35 that never got to run a wheel in anger.
