I’m finally starting to put words to a truly incredible time in Morocco. For three months, I’ve only been able to describe our retreat as indescribable, so here’s a small tidbit of what I’ve got.

I remember the descent into Marrakech as Lyra and I looked out the window to see the clay red walls of the Medina, a seemingly packed blueprint of walls and roofs contained within a vast desert, alongside golf course greens and a metropolitan city, with the lush Atlas Mountains in the distance. The hair on my arms rose at the thought of immersing myself in the ancient history of this city. I could viscerally feel the vitality of the land.

Morocco was earthy and bright at the same time. You could smell the tajines heating over open fire while your eyes were intoxicated by the textures, colors and layers of woven rugs and sorted spices.

Katherine and I named this retreat “Awaken Your Adventurer” because we knew merely getting to Morocco would be an adventure of a lifetime. But the depth of adventure we actually had was something only the Creator could have envisioned. It was so much more than the sum of its parts, and I’ll tell you, the parts were also brilliant.

Those parts were the people who, by some miracle, converged there.

Together, we rode on top of a Jeep into the Atlas Mountains, hiked and played in a waterfall, read books in hammocks, laid around the pool and bartered in town. Andrew got a shave from the local barber, who was also apparently the dentist. We took evening “fart walks,” one of which somehow ended with us buying 100 chocolate bars and handing them out to local kids.

Our group ranged from 34 to 78, plus one year old Lyra. Men and women. Canadians and Americans, Puerto Rican and Moroccan. Different jobs, backgrounds, perspectives and life experiences.

I can’t believe it’s already been a month since I’ve been back from Morocco. What an incredible trip with so many beautiful memories made. Wow, Morocco. 🇲🇦

After my very first day in Marrakech, my immediate thought was, I definitely need to come back… and my parents would absolutely love this place.

The colors, textures, markets, and endless rows of handmade rugs completely stole my heart. I’m so grateful I also got to spend time in the Atlas Mountains at an incredible yoga retreat hosted by @awakenedtraveltours at the stunning @babzouina.

I took so many photos that narrowing them down to just 20 was nearly impossible. And yes… I may or may not have come home with a rug (or two). 😅 They’re all handmade from locally sourced, naturally dyed wool. Honestly, I could have filled an entire shipping container with beautiful home goods and souvenirs.

Friends of FoCo, thank you for making my first summer here so memorable. We could not believe our ears, it was so cute and thoughtful.⁠

season 2 wrapped🚴🏼‍♀️☁️✈️🏔️🗺️

a little behind the scenes of my wonderful second season with @trektravel ! I started out this spring in Arizona🌵 for a month or two. Spent a few weeks in central California🍇 and then moved to New Mexico🌶️ for a quick week and a half, before landing in the San Juan Islands in Washington🌊 for 3 months. Fell in love with the WA mountains and alpine lakes, watched the blackberries ripen and road on a few too many ferries⛴️ Once the leaves began to change and the weather got a bit cooler it was time to migrate south. Rounding out my season with a beach vaca in sunny southern California🏖️
