Pieta Brown and Ásgeir join Nick, Helen and the eTones for John Prine’s “Aimless Love,” the title track from his 1984 album.

Prine’s songs have long had a home at eTown, and we’re grateful to share this one with two songwriters we admire. Thank you for listening along with us this week.

This week on eTown, Ásgeir performed “King And Cross,” coming off his album In the Silence.

Originally recorded in Icelandic, the song found an international audience after John Grant translated the lyrics into English, and we’re grateful to have Ásgeir on this week’s broadcast and to share this performance with you.

Hear more of his music and conversation with Nick in the full episode, linked in our bio.

Ásgeir’s “Ferris Wheel,” from his 2026 album Julia, grew out of conversations with his girlfriend about leaving familiar routines behind and imagining a slower life by the sea. It’s a song about taking a chance on the life you want.

Life has its ups and downs, and music helps us through both. We’re grateful to share this performance from Ásgeir’s first visit to eTown.

The full episode featuring @asgeirmusic is on the air this week through next Tuesday.

New this week on eTown, we welcome two songwriters whose music stretches from Iceland to the American Midwest with Ásgeir and Pieta Brown.

Growing up in a tiny Icelandic town of around 40 people, @asgeirmusic started writing songs as a child and went on to become one of Iceland’s most successful recording artists. He makes his first eTown appearance with music from both his breakthrough debut, In the Silence, and his new album, Julia.

Iowa singer-songwriter @pieta_music returns to eTown with songs from her new album Dreamin’ Of. The daughter of singer-songwriter Greg Brown, Pieta has spent more than two decades following her own creative path, touring with artists including John Prine and Mavis Staples and developing a wide circle of collaborators along the way.

And in our interview, eTown host Nick Forster talks with @uofdenver historian and former Colorado State Historian Susan Schulten. They explore the Declaration of Independence, Abraham Lincoln and what American history can teach us 250 years later.

We all inherit stories and traditions along the way. This week on eTown, we share where they can take us.

Listen on the radio and wherever you get your podcasts.
