✨ BEST JAZZ DANCER ✨ OPUS TITLE WINNER WEEKEND 🤍 What an unforgettable weekend! 🥹❤️ From amazing food, @erewhon smoothie, ice cream to Universal Studios, getting to spend time with the incredible teachers and faculty, and making memories with some of the most talented dancers, this experience was truly so special! Most memorable game trend with @dannydlawn 🤪🤪 One of the best parts was getting to know the teachers and faculty on a more personal level, build relationships, and learn from so many incredible artists I look up to. Being in the same room, dancing alongside so much amazing talent and all of my friends, is something I’ll never take for granted. 🫶🏼✨ Danny truly did the unimaginable in Press Play’s very first year by creating such a special experience for these kids. What an incredible opportunity and such a beautiful way to celebrate the dancers! Congratulations on an amazing first year, Danny! 🥹👏🏼 Thank you for creating an experience we’ll remember forever and memories that will stay with us for years to come. So grateful to be part of this amazing dance family, and I can’t wait to keep growing, learning, and making more memories together! ❤️ Forever grateful. Forever inspired. And so lucky to dance alongside you all! ✨🩰 @project21official Thank you for you’re support, couldn’t have done it without you!! Forever grateful 🥹🥹🙏🙏 #PressPlay #BestJazzDancer #OpusTitleWinner #DanceFamily #dancelife

The Spotlight Series is back and this time, it’s shining on 13 year old Alston Smith. This October, Alston will take the stage in a Junior 1 solo, a Junior 2 duo with @_ashdancer_ , Junior Formation, and Production. Four ways to hit the stage, one big opportunity to represent. Before he heads to Prague, let’s get to know the dancer behind the spotlight a little better ✨ * How long have you been tap dancing? 10 years * Do you have a favorite memory from worlds? Yes! Getting 4th place for my duo last year in Prague. I consider that to be my biggest accomplishment in tap so far. * We’d love to know your favorite tap move/trick. The firecracker💥 * Which brand of tap shoes do you like to wear? JSams @jsamsmif * Who inspires you the most in the world of tap dance? I’m inspired by the Nicholas Brothers because of their charm and personality on stage. * What is your dream song or concept to dance to? I enjoy tapping to unusual rhythms, such as “Take 5” by The Dave Brubeck Quartet. * We’re curious to hear 3 non-dance related fun facts about you. I play the violin, I love running, and… the choir which I’m a member of - Phoenix Boys Choir, won a Grammy this year for Best Video Game Soundtrack for “Sword of the Sea” [see slides 11-12] * What are your other passions outside of dance? Outside of dance, I love to play the violin and piano, sing and run. * What does representing the USA mean to you? What representing Team USA means to me is having the opportunity to tap alongside other talented members of our nation, and have fun while doing it!

Our series continues, and this week, we’re putting 14-year-old Leo Burr in the spotlight. Now in his second year with California Tap Co., Leo will return to Prague this October, where he’ll compete in Junior 2 solo and trio, Junior small group and formation, and production. But before he takes the stage, let’s get to know this talented young man a little better. * How long have you been tap dancing? I have been tap dancing for 3 years. * Name a favorite memory from worlds last year. My favorite world’s memory was celebrating my birthday in Prague! * What do you consider your biggest accomplishment in tap so far? My biggest accomplishment is probably my growth as a tap dancer. * What’s your favorite tap move/trick? If I HAD to choose, it’d be a triple click. * Which brand of tap shoes do you like to wear? JSams @jsamsmif * Who is the tap dancer that inspires you the most and why? I would have to say Anthony Morigerato @amtapdance. His style inspires me. He is also kind and encouraging. * If you were to pick a dream song to dance to, what would it be? My dream song to tap dance to is Justin Timberlake’s “Cry Me a River”. * Give us 3 non-dance related fun facts about you. I had to get 6 stitches in my right eyebrow and had 4 broken teeth from 2 separate soccer incidents. Now, I tap. I have two pugs that I love and one is trouble. When I’m in the shower I can sing like Bruno Mars. Like, actually. * What are your other passions outside of dance? I am an advanced pianist, a music enthusiast, and a lover of stories. * What does representing the USA at worlds mean to you? I’m honored to have been chosen among such exceptional tap dancers to represent the USA!
