Why does Northeast Louisiana need an Arts Council?

Because the arts don't sustain themselves simply because we value them. Artists need opportunities. Organizations need resources. Communities need partners. Young people need access. Creative ideas need investment.

And when decisions are being made about the future of our communities, the arts need someone at the table reminding people why creativity belongs in that future.

That's why we're here.

For nearly five decades, the Northeast Louisiana Arts Council has worked to support, promote and advocate for the arts across our region. Not because art is an extra. Because we believe creativity is part of what makes Northeast Louisiana a place where people want to live, work, visit, create and belong.

And none of this work happens alone. Which brings us to the most important part of this conversation: Partnership.

Day 13 of showing up every single day.

Today was Finley’s little birthday party where family came from all over and friends gathered to celebrate the baby we were waiting on last year.

Our hearts are so full because we love our village. This is just a glimpse at the afternoon there was a day full of amazing food from my mother in law, some faces we haven’t seen in a long time came in for Finley, our new friends hopped in, lots of 8+ hour drives for folks to see this little boy and show him love.

We couldn’t be more grateful for each of you celebrating our Finley Shade . 🫶🏽

When they say “don’t blink” - it’s true, it all happens so fast. The first year was lots of tears, learning, and questioning can we do it, but this kid is growing so fast.

Cherry blossom mural complete. 🌸✅

We love painting large commercial murals, but every now and then it’s nice to create a home decor mural like this one.

Soft cherry blossoms, a limewash inspired background, and calming blue green tones gave this bedroom a serene, elevated feel.🤍
