"K-Pop Boy Group" and "Pizza Commercial" weren't two phrases i expected to hear in a brief this year. So thrilled to be able to share the DIS recruitment campaign that I directed! I was beyond hyped when I found out we were going to use Imagine Dragons’ “Radioactive,” It’s not every day you get to take a song you know and love, and weave it directly into the soul of your film. This whole project was a true labor of love. It still blows my mind that we filmed everything you see in just two days (plus half day for drone) on a budget. Josh Makazo - Hours

When 2023 ended, I realised that I hadn’t worked on a non-commercial project in almost a decade. After having a random chat with @yarshineee and @kelvincwz_dp about wanting to do something purely for fun this year, incidentally, just a few days later, @hellomjito invited me to a showcase where I was introduced to @joshmakazo’s music for the first time. His sound had a cinematic quality that captivated me and soon after, this Asian steampunk concept came to be; exploring the lengths to which individuals are willing to go to fulfil their deepest desires. However, the project only truly came to life because of the amazing collaborators who brought their unique talents and energy. I couldn’t be more thankful for how everyone came together to make this vision a reality. Thanks to @bensiow, @yarshineee, @owenpostfx. and the production and post team at @abundantsg_ who immediately supported me when I wanted to take this on. @kelvincwz_dp for being an awesome collaborator as always, @olha.colourist for the vivid colours, @masonrystudios for pushing the amazing VFX, @gcforce.sg for all the equipment support, @microwavesoups for conceptualising the designs for these sci-fi elements rooted in Asian culture, and to @sleepless_society and @ericsonwhat for bringing the designs to life. @hellomjito, @jasongelchen and @joshmakazo, thank you for allowing me to experiment and explore the visuals to your sound. Changi - It’s Like a Garden, With Planes Every time I travel through Changi Airport, I must say, it never ceases to amaze me. As someone who's perpetually packing at the eleventh hour, I always find myself in a rush when I travel. Yet, somehow, whenever I arrive at the airport, a wave of serenity washes over me. I feel an immediate sense of comfort and relaxation, especially with all the lush greenery. Here's one of the two films I worked on last year for Changi, in which I aimed to capture that sense of wonder I experience each time I’m there. As always, thankful to have had amazing collaborators. DBS, Live Better There was quite a bit of VFX on this one so the mockmercial definitely helped to map those sequences out. We shot this one fairly early and I remember sitting down with the HOD’s and brainstorming how we could elevate/combine (and sometimes complicate, haha) certain shots together.
