This May, we are absolutely thrilled to be a satellite venue for Melbourne Design Week 2026. Coates Community Arts will host two special events.

‘Touching Grass’ is a sensory and sonic exhibition running from 15–17 May by Asish Mohapatra and Ming Li. The opening night 🎶 + live performance (7-8pm) takes place from 6:30–9:00pm on Friday 15 May, with $10 tickets available via the link in bio. Please note that only the opening night is ticketed; the exhibition is free across the following days.

On 21 May, ‘Reservation’, presented by Ashley Simonetto and Ellen Waite, is an intimate, hands-on workshop and non-hierarchical long-table discussion addressing the reservations FLINTA+ (Female, Lesbian, Intersex, Non-binary, Trans and Agender) people may face in the design industry.

Saying goodbye after a decade of TDF was never going to be easy!

I was first employed by Lucy back in 2015 (!) for 2 days a week to build blog posts and resize images whilst she took a short break to have her baby Minnie. Before I knew it, those 2 days grew to 3, then 4, and within a matter of months I was asked to stay on as TDF’s full time graphic designer, and a few years later, art director!

There were only 4 of us in the team back then and Instagram was something we’d post to only occasionally for fun *sigh*.

Fast forward to now and I can so very proudly look back on the force that is @thedesignfiles with so much admiration and sense of achievement for what we’ve all accomplished together over the many years.

Never in my wildest dreams would I have pictured myself in a job where I would be given so many opportunities and EPIC projects to take the creative charge on. From Open House to Awards ceremonies, to shooting furniture on a sand dune, flying to Milan for Design Week or launching our Magazine! What a dream!

As well as this, I have been lucky enough to step foot in hundreds…and hundreds…of the most beautiful homes around Australia, and with that, have got to meet the equally beautiful home owners who live there. This part of my job I will miss the most.

Leaving a job and a team that you still love is extremely difficult. I am so grateful for Lucy for the last 10 years, and for putting her trust in me to bring her big and crazy dreams to fruition. Thank you to the team at TDF (past and present), you are the most hard working and talented group of women I have ever known and I feel so lucky to have spent the good part of my weeks with you all, sharing our secrets, getting shit done and of course discussing #thingswewanttobuy.

Right now, I’m working away on what’s next. I’m equal parts terrified and excited - all will be revealed very soon. This is not me saying goodbye to the design world by any means!

A huge thank you to all my followers for your support and dm’s over the years. Keep following along, I’ll see you on the other side!
