Bilou update. 🪿💛

Many of our regular visitors may have noticed that Bilou, our friendly roaming Toulouse goose, has not been out and about. Unfortunately, Bilou was hit by a vehicle in our parking lot last week. We're so grateful she's doing as well as she is, but she has suffered permanent damage to her wing, which will no longer be of use. For the next several weeks, she'll be healing in a small indoor space. As you can imagine, it's stressful for Bilou and devastating for all of us who care for and love her.

Bilou is a very special goose who has captured the hearts of our team, our volunteers, our artists, and our visitors. She's been with us since the very beginning, when she arrived as a little gosling in 2020. When the guard geese who live with our chickens cast her out early on, she took to waddling among the humans instead. She's always enjoyed her freedom around the farm, watching the farmers at work and tagging along with our volunteers.

Nothing changed once we opened to the public. Bilou’s role grew to welcoming visitors and winning them over, often rewarded with a crème caramel (her favorite) or tomato. Six seasons later, she's fully woven into the farm and is part of the AOOA magic.

Bilou is one of the many daily reminders of why we keep our gates open: the farming and food we believe in are meant to be seen, shared, and taken part in.

🪿 Thank you to everyone who has reached out with well wishes and for keeping her in your thoughts!

💛 Many of you have asked how you can help. If you'd like to contribute toward Bilou's care and recovery, you'll find a donate link in our bio or at alloneoneall.org/donate.

❊ WHERE Women Create Fall 2025 ❊ Ashlie Blake (@ashlieblakeart), a botanical artist located in the Hudson Valley, New York, who was previously published in Where Women Create, shares the opportunity she’s had to reimagine her workspace. From a small home studio to a larger space built on her home property in her barn, she shares the journey as well as her inspiration. A before-and-after piece, Ashlie shares her love for the natural world, how she started, and how far she has come.
-
"There is beauty in the thought process, the rumination, and the looking ahead and at oneself. By the time I moved into my studio, all the creative energy that had been bottling up was set ablaze, and I’ve been riding the wave ever since."

Join us for the Art of Seed, a gallery show celebrating the vibrant intersection of art, gardening, farming and nature taking place July 17th-21st for Upstate Art Weekend (@upstateartweekend).

ARTIST HIGHLIGHT - Ashlie Blake (@ashlieblakeart): "When creating this piece for Hudson Valley Seed Co. for their Upstate Art Weekend group show, Nasturtiums immediately came to mind. With their vibrant colors and lily pad like leaves, I felt their beauty would be a perfect choice! As an artist residing in the Hudson Valley I feel it’s important to share work inspired by the flowers and plants that grow in our area, but also a personal favorite of mine and one that I grow in my own gardens."

Four Wall Farm introduces PLAYFUL LION TEA!

A new unique and fun flavor- hence the name- sweet, tart & tangy. Its bright color is as cheerful as the taste. It’s going to be hot this weekend- come see us @chappaquafarmersmarket and @beaconfarmersmarket and have an iced tea tasting adventure:)

I can’t tell you how much angst arises whenever we debut a new product. I double and triple think every single detail, and usually push the planned launch date back at least a couple of weeks. This one started with red shiso leaves from our Beacon neighbor @z4zero.farm, and it has very quickly become my favorite tea, and I didn’t even wait for the new label artwork from @ashlieblakestudio before letting this one out. I do hope that everyone loves it as much as we do.
