Calling all new moms! Find your community at Sugar Hill Creamery🤍

Since 2018, SHMOMS has connected 300+ mothers in Harlem and beyond. Started by our cofounder @askpetrushka, our longest standing community group gives new moms a space to feel seen, heard, and supported.

Our next 6-week group starts this Thursday, October 15, with facilitated conversations about motherhood led by SHMOMS alum @chefleen. Come ask questions, share experiences, and build connections that continue through baby supply swaps, late night texts, and midweek walks long after the program ends.

Join through the link in bio, or share this with a new mom who’s looking to build her village.

We are so excited to introduce our next Harlemite, @bevysmith, Harlem native, author, actress, radio and television personality, and host of In Bed with Bevy!

We ran into Bevy in the neighborhood while she was on her way to pick up supplies for her sister Stephanie’s business, @misslollyskitchen, and naturally, we had to invite her over to make an ice cream flavor with us!

Miss Lolly was Bevy and Stephanie’s mother and the inspiration behind Miss Lolly’s Kitchen. Every Sunday, she would make a huge family meal complete with two meats, plenty of sides, and her homemade cakes and pies. One of Bevy’s favorites was her butter cake, served just the way Miss Lolly loved it, with a dollop of butter pecan ice cream on top. 🍰🍦

So we brought the two together and created Miss Lolly’s Butter Cake, our take on a family tradition and a sweet memory of Miss Lolly.

A portion of the sales from Miss Lolly’s Butter Cake will go back to @brosis512, an organization doing incredible work with young people right here in Harlem.

Thank you, Bevy, for sharing Miss Lolly’s story and this special family memory with us ❤️ And thank you to @tbo.harlem for documenting the conversation!

Miss Lolly’s Butter Cake is available at all Harlem stores.

Every dairy cow needs a calf to keep producing milk, and roughly half of those calves are male—animals with no place in a milk operation. Veal is where they go instead of going to waste, a sustainability story most people never think about when they order it. Earlier this month, Chef Andrew Whitcomb (@chef_whitcomb) built a menu around that idea for our industry lunch with Veal Discover Delicious (@vealdiscoverdelicious). He pulled it through four unique courses at Lex Yard (@lexyardnyc): vitello tonnato with veal tartare and tuna carpaccio, a warm veal bone marrow tart with grilled sour cherries, a veal rib chop wrapped in crépinette with sweet Italian sausage, and triple-ground veal meatballs finished with fried parsley. Thank you to Chef Andrew Whitcomb and the Lex Yard team for hosting, and to everyone in New York’s restaurant community who joined us at the table.

Our Harlemites Series is back, and we’re excited to share our new collab with Charles Pan-Fried Chicken.

For more than 50 years, Charles Pan-Fried Chicken has been a Harlem institution. Chef Charles Gabriel built a true neighborhood legacy, and today the business is in a new chapter under the leadership of Chef Quie, who once looked up to Chef Charles as a young neighbor of one of his earlier restaurants. Now, they’re building the next chapter together.

To celebrate, we’re dropping Sunday’s Sundaes — our unconventional sundae that brings together savory and sweet.

🗓️ Available Sunday, August 2, from 1–5 PM.

Watch the video to learn more about this special collaboration, the legacy behind it, and the story that makes it so meaningful to us.

Send this to a friend and see you on Sunday. 🍦🍗

I’ve been slow at posting. What a magical few weeks it’s been and I’m truly looking forward to crossing paths with more lovely humans.

PUB DAY was fantastic! Meeting Petrushka @askpetrushka irl was incredible. Petrushka Bazin Larsen & Nick Larsen are the owner/operators behind the beloved @sugarhillicecream. Harlem’s first family owned ice cream shop since 1983. I had an instant connection with Petrushka last year via zoom. Since then we have been email/text/zoom friends for almost a year. She is a magnificent human and truly is the Ice Cream Queen of Harlem.

Petrushka wrote a blurb for the book and said “yes” when I asked her if she’d be in conversation with me at @ptknitwear on publication day. Everyone also got to enjoy the ever so delicious Sugar Hill Creamery ice cream. I loved every moment of that day. And as always a glass of celebration bubbles to end the night.

That evening was also an LA reunion in the East Village. I was overjoyed to see @bumpynightbette, @tiffpicciano , @davisjacinda & Zion and Miya who brought her lovely student to the event. Thank you all for the love and support.

More to come. 💜🍦

It’s been an eventful past two weeks in Harlem. Here’s some of my snaps. Instagram recently announced a new function were you can add captions to each individual photo in the captions, which I love the idea of… unfortunately I don’t have it yet. 😢

Stop 6 on The Great 5 Borough Scoop Shop tour is a Harlem favorite: @sugarhillicecream

Of course I had to try their Go New York, Go New York Go! flavor (Knicks in FIVE!!!). But what made this one special was that I got to enjoy it with @domnthecity , who introduced me to Sugar Hill Creamery in the first place just a few years ago.

Have a mom & pop, neighborhood ice cream shop you want to see featured? Drop it in the comments!
