v1 prototyping of the BARRIER BUDDY is underway and feeling great! this idea is finally seeing the light of day after more than a year and now i get to dial it in and share the stoke. it came from a season of my life that had a very compact schedule and i couldn’t always find time to get to the skatepark but wanted to scratch the itch, even if only for 10 minutes at a time.

now that it’s in the wild, it’s time to dial in the radius, engineering and different ways i can share this with as many people as possible. with multiple segments, it’ll be a dream to be able to bolt together and setup an 8’ quarter in a matter of minutes, wherever your barrier of choice resides.

no matter how busy you are, find small ways to spark the fire and keep the adventure alive, it’s worth it.

enjoy the detour

on my way to get our weekly groceries tonight, i explored some spots in West by my old house. i always re-explore old areas and spots…you never know what you’ll see on a different day. as i passed this bulldozer, i remembered the barrier ramps were still in the back and pulled over to figure out a clip.

a few run ups and it was feeling fairly easy to pull out the tripod and document the moment by creating something. it was a gorgeous sunset, no better time. after a few goes, i slid a bit, but wanted to dive in more. next go, i anti hop and eat shit, one of the worst kinds too. the slow motion, slow fall never gets better. you somehow hit every body part on the way down and don’t even get a crash clip, it’s just a headache. shin, knuckles, shoulder.

not too bad, i’ll take it, could’ve been worse.

another time, i dive in but don’t slide like i want to. eh, it felt good and sometimes that’s the clip. you hope to get both, look good/feel good, but on the way to the grocery store, one of each is enough.

i’ve been listening to this Thou/The Body album a lot lately, especially in the art studio. i love when certain albums just click and they effortlessly stay in the rotation. i enjoy some seasons with a soundtrack. this season has a lot of thou, depeche mode and iris by goo goo dolls. summer 2025 has been one for the books.

january 4 | music to my ears

ive been chipping away at this little project for a minute and finally got to give ‘er a few rips today. some small mods needed, but its exactly what i wanted! i had originally planned to make this transition concrete, but new tenants just moved into the building, so im staying low key and keeping it portable for now. all of this started from an idea to eventually get a single photo on this setup — let your ideas bloom.

there were at least five tricks that i always wanted to have in my back pocket - downside double pegs, x-up grinds, over toothpicks, proper inverts/tables and g-turns. all my favorite riders did them and i worked eagerly to add them to my list. g-turns felt best to me on box jumps with transition landings, but they really blew my mind when i saw good ones on street. they became a little more challenging as bars became taller, but that was a small trade off to not have the lower back pain we all inherited from those mid-2000s trends.

had to shake off the cobwebs for this one and although it’s not the cleanest, it still feels so fun to get it around.

Spring + Summer 2024

At the beginning of the year I got a @sundaybikes Wavelength because I had never ridden a Gary frame and I needed to know. I’ve been pretty spread thin over the last 6 months with life changes, but looking back I got to ride a lot and have a very memorable time at some fun spots.

Feels strange to think each of these days and what riding meant to them, but I’m glad I captured them. It’s been a minute since I compiled some clips, so here are some from spring + summer along with one of my favorite bands.
