WIDE WORKS! Impromptu clinic. These fine folks were wide curious, so I got to do the thing I love doing: teach how to work the wide. I’m told they made use of these techniques THE NEXT DAY👌👌👌. There’s a link in my bio to check out the real clinic.

Learn two seasons worth of technique in 3 days. It’s a grueling, good time!

Another round on Denali with @rmiexpeditions Didn’t tag the top this time due to some stubborn storms and stubborn snowpack, but we’re all back, rested, and ready for the next time The Great One gives us another shot. @gnarlynutrition @blackdiamond .

Other ways we have been celebrating the season:
1+2: went to the Christkindl Markt, 3+4: lunch with my sisters and mom to celebrate Erika’s birthday (high was in October 😘) 5: took the family to a Cirque style Christmas show (better than I expected!) 6: Utah Hockey Club games they won this one in overtime, very exciting; 7: watched a bunch of Christmas movie classics and worked on Christmas cards; 8: went to Chicago with Nate and added some more Michelin stars to his collection at Smyth (it was delicious); attended the temple; 9: Swiss style advent with my sister and her family; 10+11: cookie baking and decorating with nephews.
It’s been a busy and fun Christmas season and I’ve loved it all.

Christmas Day 1: Continued. One of our favorite traditions is attending a performance of Handel’s Messiah. Nate and I started going when we were living in Chicago. And we have tried to go to a performance everywhere we have lived. I think we have only missed 2 or 3 out of the last 29 years. This year was a sing along with the Utah Symphony. And I’m so glad my kids enjoy it too.

🚨it’s RELEASE DAY FOR THE TOPO PANTS!❤️‍🔥

and what better way to ring in this new pattern than to shower my testers with immense gratitude & praise for their constructive criticism & generous feedback 🥰

as a reminder, the #LMTopoPants are a GENDER-NEUTRAL pattern, drafted for 5’6” height with a 28” inseam, RELAXED straight leg, HIGH RISE for standard womenswear or MID RISE for standard menswear). Sewing level: Confident Beginner ❤️‍🔥 Sizes: 00-36 (Waist 23-54”, Hip 33-64”).

i was lucky to have such a great team of testers working on this pattern with me and i cannot thank them enough 😭

you can purchase the pattern through my Etsy (link in bio and on my site!) - the pattern includes detailed instructions with illustrations and files for Print At Home, A0/Copyshop, and Projector 🤗

it feels great to be able to finish #memademay2024 with this project, as i started it exactly one year ago and kept working and refining it throughout this past year with the immense support from this sewing community as i figured things out with MANY sample pairs 😅

the icing on top of this pattern cake 🎂 is that one of my lovely testers happens to work at a woman-owned small biz @seamsfabric 💗 located in Michigan & they went the extra mile to support Topo’s success by providing a DISCOUNT code “Topo15” on all Topo-related fabrics & notions (they even made a special page for this pattern, good thru June 30, link also in bio!) ❤️‍🔥 Seams Fabric focuses on natural fibers and provides an inclusive space for ALL makers & i so appreciate having them in my corner while i release my first garment pattern 🥰🥳

so without further ado, please inundate this comment section with compliments for ALL my testers who helped make this pattern a reality! ❤️❤️❤️ p.s. not all testers are included in this reel, just those who felt like sharing a pic, so compliment those testers TOO!!!

When my niece announced she was pregnant with her 2nd child, I offered to throw a shower for her since she was having a boy after her first daughter. Instead of a traditional shower, she requested that we come and help make her home ready for her baby’s arrival. So today we all showed up to a cleaning party! Everyone pitched in and in just a couple hours we had scrubbed baseboards, doors, walls, and floors; vacuumed the whole house, cleaned the stove, refrigerator, air fryer, microwave, backsplashes and countertops, all the bathrooms, organized the pantry, sorted and organized her older daughter’s clothes( setting aside things she’d outgrown and bringing in the next sizes), sorted hand me downs for baby, patched holes in the wall and painted them, and then put everything back in its place. It was such a great day serving with my family. And we decided that this kind of shower was way more helpful for getting ready for baby. We also decided that maybe a monthly project group would be a great idea too!

Aspen has a birthday today! She is smart, beautiful, creative, compassionate, encouraging, kind, adventurous and fun. She sets her goals high and works hard to accomplish them. She is passionate and authentic. I’m so glad we get a day to celebrate her. Love you @aspenjane11

The candy game is one of our favorite Kerksiek family traditions. When I was growing up we played with with my cousins at Thanksgiving. My grandpa would get lots of prizes and candy and we would roll dice to win them! So we play it with our family now. We had a little kid game downstairs. And the adult game upstairs. And it was rowdy! And loud! So much cheering. The best prize was the giant orange vase that Hazel and Cruz bought from savers and donated to the game. And then afterward there was lots of trading. Best part of the game.

Waffle party number 2 with my family was a hit! Spending time with them is my favorite. Nate made his coconut waffles with lime sauce and lime caviar. But this time with raspberry sauce because we didn’t have hibiscus. And Nate’s famous holiday waffles : orange cranberry pecan with maple syrup and whip cream. They are as delicious as they sound! And the kids had blueberry, banana, chocolate chip, and M&M options.

It was so great to spend time with all of my kids. And I was too busy enjoying the week to take any pictures. Park city was lovely with just the right amount of snow. We enjoyed hanging out by the fire and walking up and down Main Street. Sheldon loved laying in front of the fire. We at some delicious food as part of our family fancy food Friday. Pictured is the leftovers we ate the day after. Everyone made some very tasty bites.
Today we ended the week at the Messiah Sing -in with the Utah Symphony and Chorus. It was so much fun. And they even encored the Hallelujah Chorus! And it was so fun to go with Aspen and Jake and Toby and Hazel. We missed Isaac and Nate who both had to catch flights. It’s been a wonderful kick off to the Christmas season.❤️🎄

I love the holiday season. And I especially love to spend it with my favorite people. We kicked off this year’s festivities with going to see the TransSiberian Orchestra. I’ve wanted to see them for 15 years. And this year we were finally in the right place at the right time. Nothing like celebrating Christmas with a laser show and pyrotechnics. Followed by a late dinner at Dee’s. These are my favorite people. ❤️
