Following the heartbreaking loss of Laura Rio, a young woman whose dedication as a youth worker touched everyone who knew her, her close friends came together to honour her life in a meaningful way.

Partnering with local artist @cooker_hkc, they collaborated to create a stunning mural at the Msida skatepark, a place that was more than just a skating spot for Laura, but a second home where she spent countless hours practicing, laughing, and connecting with friends.

The mural stands as a vibrant and lasting tribute to Laura’s energy, dedication, and love for the sport she adored. It also serves as a reminder to the community of the importance of pursuing one’s passions and cherishing every moment. Through this artwork, her friends hope to keep her spirit alive, inspiring others who visit the skatepark to embrace their dreams and the joy that Laura found on wheels.

In celebrating Laura’s legacy, the mural not only honours a talented rollerblader but also the warmth and positivity she brought to those around her, a beacon of remembrance in a place she loved dearly.

Every time I feel like quitting, I remind myself: this is where most people stop — and that’s exactly why I keep going.
