POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

If you like historical mysteries with a liberal splash of other-worldly goings on, this is definitely one for you. Huge thanks to @instabooktours for letting me join the blog tour and thanks to @anna.c0llinss for pre-ordering this gorgeous signed copy for my birthday ❤️.

AJ’s writing style is so captivating and engaging, with the characters jumping off the page at every turn. In ‘The Deadly Inheritance of Everest Macdonald’, we accompany Everest as she tries to piece together the truth about her uncle’s murder. Her uncle, famous theatre actor William Terris, was said to have been murdered by fellow actor Richard Prince in 1897. Prince seemingly stabbed Terris at the stage door and has been locked up in an insane asylum ever since. It’s now 1917 and Everest’s father Colonel TH Lewin is on his death bed; his last wish is to find out what really happened to William as his brother’s death has haunted him for decades.

Everest immediately agrees to investigate the case, tracking down anybody related to the case including friends and relatives. . She is a marvellously no-nonsense kind of woman, the sort of person who does not accept defeat but just sees challenges to be overcome and opportunities to find out more, wherever she goes. She even manages to visit Prince in the asylum and is surprised by her impression of him. On the train journey there, she meets a young woman called Clare who soon becomes Everest’s assistant and right-hand woman.

As the investigations deepen, Everest and Clare uncover more and more mysterious elements to the story. AJ West writes such dramatic intense scenes, beautifully interspersed with Everest’s no-nonsense approach. For the first time Everest finds out more about her father’s time in the Indian army as a young man, where he undertook the brutal duties given to him as part of the Empire, and learns more about the lifelong impact that it had on TH and William. They didn’t leave India alone - they were told that they brought a curse on themselves, which is to hang over the men for the rest of their lives. But surely there’s no such thing as a curse in real life? Just remember, this is AJ West - nothing is a

I have read "Meet the Newmans" last month and this spread edge is just so clever.

Whats your favourite blue cover book?

Selling ARCs or PR copies of books on Vinted is not only against the rules that are clearly stated on the actual books, it's taking a sale away from an author that we, as book bloggers, are supposed to be supporting.

Please also remember that, in some cases, authors have personally paid for those copies to be sent to you. That’s money coming directly out of their own pockets to get their books into the hands of bloggers and readers.

So, going forward, any proofs or PR copies we spot being sold will be reported to the relevant publisher/author. They can then decide whether the person involved should remain on their PR list.

Because apparently, we can be dicks too.

🎶The Late Bloomer's Playlist - Charlotte Barnes🎵

This is definitely a first! What romance starts with a husband signing the wife up on to a dating app?
David and Patti have a wonderful friendship and have been best friends and husband and wife in a platonic marriage but David encourages Patti to look for her own love.

I loved the character, the good representation of aging and self consciousness about saggy bits.

I think the dynamic of friendships from how David is with Patti versus Janet and then the reliability of Bill the tea shop owner were wonderful to see throughout the books as well as the funny moments peppered throughout! Michael's antique choice to show Patti?

Loved this! It was a nice easy read!

Daisy is an innkeeper who loves to push the ‘only one bed’ trope onto guests, even when the inn is empty and she could do with the money for two rooms (she’s in debt and the inn desperately needs work doing to it). But that’s not the least of Daisy’s problems - she was hexed and her kiss stops people’s hearts, AND she’s secretly a soul eater whose own parents are scared of her.

In order to save her inn, Daisy enters a competition to find the cure for a soul eater. She can’t do it alone so the emotionally unavailable gardener, Astin, joins her. Aston has his own hex and hunts soul eaters!

This is one for readers who would enjoy a sweet, cosy fantasy romcom. Also people who love banter, romance tropes, whimsy and romance-focused books. I flew through this and it was a fun 4 star read.

Life kicked my bum and I missed my tour date (with permission) but it was a great read so I’m still posting. Thank you to @instabooktours @hotkeybooks for having me

🥀Vows of Blood ~ Reece Barden 🥀
AD/PR

Q-Which trope would make you pick this book up?
———————————————————————————
Read if you like;

-Mafia Romance
-Second Chance
-Fake Relationship
-Forced Marriage
-Touch her and 💀
-Morally Grey Hero

It’s been so long since I last read a mafia romance that I wondered if I’d ever even read one. When I saw this, I knew I had to get a copy! Reece Barden is a new author to me and this definitely won’t be my last book.

Vows of Blood is a dark, second-chance, forced proximity mafia romance! After a decade apart, a fluke event reunites the MCs.

From the very beginning, you’re drawn in by the action that keeps you on the edge of your seat.

I appreciated that the MCs had met before entering the mafia world and their shared history made their connection feel a little more believable.

Sienna, the FMC, has endured immense pain and struggles but remains resilient, fierce and courageous, making her incredibly relatable. Her stubbornness was a perfect trait to uphold and clashed well with Luca.

The backstory of both characters is so well developed that it adds depth and high emotions to the story. You see how Luca and Sienna’s traumas have affected everything they have done in the last decade.

While the novel is fast paced, I felt it was a bit shorter than I would have liked. Some elements, like Luca and Sienna rekindling their “romance/love”, felt rushed and moved too quickly.

I really enjoyed Rebecca as a side character. She’s definitely believable as a friend who instantly calls her friend out and warns her against the mafia lifestyle.

Overall, Vows of Blood is a good mafia romance. If you’re just getting into this genre, this book is definitely one you’ll love!

I really enjoyed the author’s previous book, The Last Wishlist and was over the moon to have been included on this tour.

Everywhere But Here is everything you would want in a lovey summer read, and then some. Packed with gorgeous travel & food descriptions, this YA romance is full of character growth & living life outside your comfort zone; an aspect that was also prominent in the previous book.

I really enjoyed Margo & Theo’s witty banter, their travel and character growth and how it shaped their anticipated romance. The destinations alone made it the perfect escapist romance and a must holiday/ beach/ pool read.

Pick it up if you love YA romance, enemies to lovers, forced proximity & beautiful travel themed stories.
