It never really gets easier, you just learn how to deal with it in healthier ways. You’ve been gone nearly as long as I ever had you, and it’s really fucking with my head. How could so many beautiful, impactful things happen in such a short time? You are the best friend, the selfless lover, and the person who made waves far beyond where your eyes could see. I miss you every single day. I talk to you whenever I feel you in the air, or beside me in bed. Whenever butterflies make their way into my life, I know you were there. Happy 27th Birthday, babygirl. Let’s make it a great one.

Thank you to everyone who came out in person and on the livestream for my opening of Exhale last week! This was such an incredibly intense and healing project. Working through it helped me release some of the sadness and grief and heaviness from the past two years. I hope being with it gave you a moment of release too.

And the joy! When I was creating the joy altar I kept feeling like something was missing.. and then I realized it wouldn’t be complete until people interacted with it and built it up with all of their joy and laughter and hopes for our beautiful radical joyous queer future. Thank you for all of your pictures and beautiful words.

And so much love to @the_bayou_constellation for welcoming me into their space and all of the assistance to actually pull this off. The biggest abrazos to you.

More pics of the altars coming soon! Also planning a closing event, stay tuned.

This project was funded by the Minnesota State Arts Board.

Fashion icon, Pisces baby, Squish queen

I can’t overstate the impact you had on me, my business and my life. You started seeing me shortly after I opened and did everything you could to make sure I was booked and busy. You were one of my biggest supporters from the first day we met and I can’t thank you enough for that. You seemed to have an endless amount of love to give. I was always excited to see your name on my books, to hear what was happening in your world, and to create something that might make you feel half as stunning as you are.
I know your nails made you feel put together when things were falling apart and I’m so grateful I got to do that for you. I’m sorry we didn’t get to do the Squishmallow set we planned, but I love that you still came to that last appointment sick as I’ve ever seen you because you weren’t about to go to the hospital with busted nails. That’s that we call an icon.
You are still the only person I let get away with being late to every appointment because I love you so god damn much. I couldn’t ask for a better client, muse, or friend. It was an honor to hold your hands angel

This. I wasn’t ready for this news and I’m still processing. I’m absolutely devastated and gutted by @astoldbyteighlor Teighlor McGee’s transition. Their transition is a huge loss to the entire Disability community. There is a serious hole in my heart right now. I think we can all agree that Teighlor’s light, words and activism taught us so much. The unlearning and learning shouldn’t cease.

Spend time honoring their memory by reading their work and continuing to support the @blackdisabilitycollective mission to empower the lives of black disabled people. Also please give them space to grieve during this difficult time. Y’all have my full support in the next steps to come and let us know what we can do to provide love, aid and care moving forward.

Morning Teighlor. I’m still trying to process your transition. I hope we can continue to work and fight for disability acceptance and justice the way you would want us to in your memory. I made this for you and your comrades at @blackdisabilitycollective 🌸⚡️🦄✊🏾
