We mine asteroids.

An engine so gentle you could overpower its thrust with one finger… is helping a 200-kilogram spacecraft chase an asteroid?!!

That sounds ridiculous until you think through the math.

Chemical propulsion gives you enormous thrust quickly. Electric propulsion gives you tiny thrust for months at a time. And in deep space, that can be far more valuable.

AstroForge’s DeepSpace-2 spacecraft is expected to use a Hall-effect thruster to slowly build velocity on its way toward a metallic asteroid. It will launch as a rideshare alongside Intuitive Machines’ IM-3 lunar mission, then separate and head deeper into space.
