Pause & Renew | A Spring Urban Yoga Retreat 🌻🧘

Yesterday’s Pause & Renew afternoon at the beautiful @at.one.studio in Essendon was everything I had hoped it would be and more. ❤️

An afternoon of slowing down, reconnecting and taking a little time just for ourselves.

Gentle movement, breathwork, nourishing yin yoga, deep rest, tea, delicious treats and beautiful connection.

My heart is full of gratitude for all the wonderful women who joined me and helped create such a warm, welcoming and nurturing space.

It was a joy to share this special afternoon with you all, in such a beautiful setting.

Already looking forward to the next one! 💕

If you’re curious about exploring yoga beyond the physical practice, but aren’t quite sure where to begin, these are three books I’d recommend. There are so many wonderful texts out there and it can get a little overwhelming, but hopefully these suggestions offer you a little direction!

What I particularly love about all three is that they make yoga philosophy feel accessible without oversimplifying it or diluting its depth. They invite you to explore big ideas, question your own perspectives and reflect on how these teachings might actually show up in your life…

📖 The Practice Is the Path by Tias Little

A beautiful exploration of how the practice of yoga can become a pathway to self understanding, a process of looking beyond the external form and exploring what’s happening within the subtler layers of our being.

📖 Light on Life by B.K.S. Iyengar

A wonderful introduction to the deeper dimensions of yoga from one of the most influential teachers of modern yoga. Referencing his own journey, this book explores how the practice can support us in navigating the complexities of being human.

📖 Yoga Beyond Belief by Ganga White

A thought provoking invitation to look beyond what we think we know about yoga, encouraging us to question assumptions, explore our own experience and approach the practice with curiosity rather than rigid beliefs.

Again and again and again…repeat the name.

Which mantra would you like to hear next?

🧐 DO YOU LISTEN OR JUST FOLLOW?

We can move further into a pose because the body invites it—or because we’re following the room, the shape, the idea of progress.

The practice is learning to feel the difference.

What is guiding you right now: sensation, breath, curiosity—or the impulse to keep up?

Sometimes listening means staying. Sometimes it opens the way to explore the pose more deeply.

Learning to feel the difference is a practice of discernment. On the mat, it changes how we move. Beyond it, it can change how we make choices, meet others and respond to life.

Save this question for your next class. Share it with someone you practice with.
