Two monotypes that are included in Petit et intime at my new gallery @atelier.531, on view til 6pm today, it’s the last day of the show. The next show will open in November! A four person painting show on the figure. These monotypes are drawn from stories from a book on Lilith and Jewish folklore I’ve been reading. The one on the left is from a tale of a man who was meant to marry the next day cavorting drunk throwing the woods with his friends and the wedding ring intended for his fiancée. He finds a finger coming out of a tree and puts a ring on it as a joke and finds himself accidentally wed to a demoness. Eventually a deal is worked out with the rabbis where he can marry his betrothed, but he has to spend one night a month with the demoness to abide by their contract of marriage. For the monotype on the right the story is similar but the hand belonged to a corpse who was a young woman who died unmarried. The corpse came to life and was very keen. Eventually the rabbis decided one could not be wed to a corpse and she returned to the ground from whence she came. 🧟 La Bague de Lilith, 2026 Ink on Arches oil paper 15 × 10.5 in (unframed); 16.5 × 12.5 in (framed) La Promesse, 2026 Ink on Arches oil paper 15 × 10.5 in (unframed); 16.5 × 12.5 in (framed) Jai Lilith Ki Jai 🧿

Spent the weekend preparing Petit et Intime. The first edition was lots of fun to organize and I felt very lucky to be able to present works by New York artists in Montreal. This second edition is different, but just as exciting since we are able to showcase a wider range of mediums. Painting, drawing, printmaking, ceramics, fiber works, photography and cyanotypes. Hanging the works was a creative challenge. We had to ensure that each work would shine on its own as well as together with those around. Incredibly excited to welcome you all this Thursday for the opening! 6-9pm at Atelier 531 in the Belgo! . . . . . . . #montrealartist #theartistconfluence #theartistconfluencepresents #montrealartist #contemporaryart
