For the latest instalment of Room by Room, we spoke to Jake Raslan and Lorenzo Buscaroli (@atelierwren) the designers behind Berenjak Mayfair (@berenjaklondon), about bringing a slice of Iran to central London. A year in the making, the restaurant is a study in detail: a hand-painted ceiling inspired by historic Persian miniatures, bespoke marble mosaic floors, and a kitchen that spills into the dining room so you can watch the bread being baked. Hoppers, welcome to Tea Building E1. A decade on from its celebrated Soho debut, we’re delighted that Karan Gokani’s acclaimed Sri Lankan restaurant has chosen Shoreditch for its fourth London home. The interiors draw on the materiality of traditional Chettiyar homes and Tamil Nadu craft, reimagined through an East London lens. Alongside much-loved Sri Lankan classics, the menu explores new, lesser-known dishes from Southern Indian cuisine. Hoppers joins Brat, Smoking Goat and Pizza East, further shaping the neighbourhood’s dining scene.
