Friday night plans for people who like going out, but also like sitting down. 👵🏼 Here are some of Berlin’s best listening bars (and a few listening spaces, but that didn’t look as good in the title), complete with vinyl, great sound systems and very good interiors. Save this for the next time the club feels a little too ambitious (always).

P I C O N E M A EAST AFRICAN HITS ON THE COLOMBIAN COAST For this listening session in @atemporal_projects, we explore the musical world of picó, the powerful and vividly decorated sound systems that emerged on the Caribbean coast of Colombia in the 1950s. Arrased in the popular musical cultures of Barranquilla and Cartagena, the picó culture developed an unusually open approach to music. The albums that arrived on the Colombian coast from Africa, the Caribbean, Latin America and beyond became part of a musical language in constant evolution, without restrictions by genre or geography. Their selections pay tribute to the neighborhoods, popular dances and the culture of the sound system, while tracing the stories of the records that have traveled to the Caribbean coast of Colombia since the 1950s This session focuses on Piconema - East Africa Hits, exploring the sounds of East Africa and its connection with Colombian picó culture. Through records and narration, Don Alirio traces the movement of music across the continents and the unexpected connections between East Africa and the Colombian Caribbean. This álbum is compiled by @golfodeguinea_bcr & George Ouma. @rocafortrecords, 2023 Thanks to @marianmaor for translating and moderating.
