Brave Enough to Begin: Akua Oteng’s Journey to Independence

In this episode of TheOrg Real Estate Podcast, we sit down with Akua Oteng to talk about what happens when you start questioning the path you’re on and dare to imagine something different.

From stepping away from the traditional estate agency model to building a business around her own ambitions, Akua shares the highs, the doubts, the challenges and the lessons that come with taking a leap into independence.
We also get into the reality of being a working mum, balancing business with family life, and finding a way to grow professionally without losing sight of what matters most personally.

This is an honest conversation about backing yourself, embracing change and having the courage to create a career that feels right for you.

Because sometimes the biggest risk isn’t taking the leap. It’s never giving yourself the chance

Another awesome TheOrg Agent Mastermind Build!

100+ property people in the room, catching up, meeting new people, sharing ideas and helping each other build their businesses.

Great to hear Amanda Walker, Steve Wayne and William Taper share their stories too. Three very different journeys and loads to take away.

Really proud of what this group is becoming. Good people, helping good people, and everyone pushing each other forward.

Awesome night. Onto the next one in November!

An evening well spent ✨
Tonight was about more than property. A lovely dinner at Circolo Popolare, Rathbone Place, with a fabulous group of women in estate agency — sharing stories, exchanging insights, talking business, laughing and getting to know one another beyond the day-to-day.
There’s something very special about women in the same industry coming together, sharing experiences and supporting each other. 🏡🥂
Great food, great conversation and even better company — and that dessert certainly deserved its own photograph! 😂🍰
Here’s to more evenings like this. ❤️

Tonight, I found myself around a table surrounded by some truly inspiring women in real estate.

Different journeys, different businesses, different ambitions — but one shared vision: to build businesses around the lives we want, while delivering an exceptional level of service to our clients.

There’s something incredibly powerful about being in a room with women who are ambitious, supportive and driven to create success on their own terms.

I’m leaving tonight feeling incredibly grateful, inspired and excited for what’s ahead. 🥂🤍

Here’s to women supporting women, building businesses we love, and creating lives that truly work for us. ✨

One of the biggest reasons I love being part of eXp?

The culture.

For so many years, estate agency has been built around competition.

At eXp, it's built around collaboration.

Agents openly share ideas.

They share referrals.

They share knowledge.

They celebrate each other's success.

And they genuinely want to help one another build better businesses.

When you surround yourself with ambitious people who are prepared to share what's working, everyone grows faster.

It's one of the biggest mindset shifts when joining eXp.

You're no longer competing with the people around you.

You're collaborating with them.

That culture has been a huge part of my own journey over the last four years, and it's one of the reasons I've been able to build relationships with so many incredible agents across the UK and around the world.

Imagine how much faster your business could grow when you're surrounded by people who genuinely want you to succeed.

One of the biggest advantages of partnering with eXp?

You're not just joining a UK business.

You're becoming part of a truly global network.

eXp has thousands of agents (90k) across multiple countries (30 and growing), creating incredible opportunities for collaboration, referrals, learning and business growth.

Imagine being able to confidently help a client who's relocating overseas.

Or referring a buyer, seller or investor to a trusted agent in another country.

Or learning directly from some of the highest-performing agents in the world.

Your network no longer stops at your local market.

It becomes global.

For me, one of the most rewarding parts of eXp has been the relationships I've built with agents around the world. Those connections have led to referrals, friendships, collaborations and opportunities that simply wouldn't have existed in a traditional estate agency.

Whether your ambition is to dominate your local market or build an international business, eXp gives you the platform to do both.

Local business.

Global opportunities.

Unlimited potential.

Awesome day at the polo yesterday. 🏇☀️

Great fun, great people and a great reminder of what makes eXp so special. Being part of a community where you’re surrounded by supportive, like-minded agents means you’re never building your business alone.

Fantastic to catch up with familiar faces, have a few laughs and enjoy a brilliant day together.

Well done @chestertons.london for putting on such a great event. 👏

Your comfort exists because someone planned ahead.
Your peace of mind exists because someone checked the details.
Your security exists because someone took the time to get it right.
Behind every safe home is someone willing to do the work others don’t see.
That’s the difference between finding a property… and securing the right one.

Get in touch if you or someone you know is thinking of selling or renting their property.
