You say no to another bedtime story, and suddenly they have five reasons why they need just one more. 😂

You set a limit on screen time, but after a little negotiating, you give them a few extra minutes.

It happens to many parents. But when our limits keep changing, children can become unsure about where the boundary actually stands.

Clear boundaries and consistency go hand in hand. ❤️

When children know what to expect and understand that you’ll calmly follow through, they have less reason to keep testing whether the limit will change.

This doesn’t mean being harsh or refusing to listen. You can acknowledge your child’s feelings while still holding the boundary.

You can be loving and firm at the same time.

CHILDREN NEED BOTH RULES AND BOUNDARIES. ❤️

Rules tell children what’s expected of them. Boundaries show them where the limits are and what happens when those limits are crossed.

Children thrive when expectations are clear, consistent, and age-appropriate. It’s not about controlling every move they make. It’s about providing structure, teaching responsibility, and helping them understand that actions have consequences.

The key is consistency. When we set a boundary, following through calmly helps children learn that our words mean something.

Sextortion reports from UK children rose 66% last year. 97% of victims were boys.

But here is what most parents do not know: predators no longer need your child to share anything.

They take a normal school photo. Run it through an AI tool. In 30 seconds, they have fake nude images. Then they blackmail your child with pictures that never existed.

Late last year, criminals did exactly this to a UK secondary school. They scraped pupil photos, manufactured deepfake images, and demanded payment. The @internet.watch.foundation classified 150 of those images as child sexual abuse material.

I spent eight years in digital forensics investigating these crimes. What I know is this: the predator's entire model depends on shame and silence. Boys are targeted because they are less likely to talk, less likely to report, more likely to comply.

Break that silence, and you break their power.

Talk to your sons about this. Let them know it exists. Let them know that if it happens, you face it together. That single conversation could be the thing that stops them becoming another statistic.

KCSIE 2026 now formally recognises deepfakes in school safeguarding guidance. AI chatbots are classified as a contact risk. Schools must review filtering annually.

But guidance only works if families know it exists.

You've probably seen them. They look like normal sunglasses. No obvious camera. Nothing flashing. Just glasses.

Meta's Ray-Ban smart glasses can record video without anyone around you having a clue and reports from the US show they've been turning up in schools, pointed at other students, mostly girls, and the footage has been ending up online.

Here's your "what if."

Your child is filmed without knowing. Maybe it's just a corridor. Maybe it's something more deliberate. That clip gets shared, and once it's out there you can't pull it back. Online humiliation like that follows a child. It doesn't stop at the school gate. It doesn't stop when the footage gets deleted off one platform.
This is the new stranger danger and it doesn't look like anything parents were warned about.

A few things worth talking to your kids about now:

Recording someone without their knowledge or consent isn't just bad manners. In certain circumstances in the UK, it can be a criminal offence. And recording someone is only the start of it, sharing that footage without their permission is a whole separate problem.
