I don’t think I was prepared for how hard it would be to let this sport go.
Because somewhere along the way, track became so much more than just a sport to me. It became home. It became the place I grew up, the place I learned how to keep going when things hurt, how to fail, how to succeed, how to trust God, and how to find joy even in the hardest moments.
This season taught me so much about gratitude. About standing in the fire and realizing there is still beauty in it because God is standing in it with you. Even in the disappointments, the pressure, the exhaustion, and the moments I felt like I wasn’t enough…He never left.
I think that’s why this hurts so much. Because I loved it deeply. Every windy meet, every hard workout, every race, every moment with my teammates, every dad joke and prayer with my coaches, every second on the track. I would do all of it over again in a heartbeat.
Thank you Jesus for being the wind on my back and the joy in my soul through every high and low in this sport.
I’m going to miss it more than words can explain. 🤍

This season taught me a lot of things. I’ve learned to trust the process and that God has a set plan. ✝️ I’ve realized that not everyone’s athletic journey is the same; some will face harder obstacles, and some may not. I only ran three meets before being done due to an injury, and to say that broke me is an understatement. Injuries don’t define you, and through this injury, I’ve learned that you cannot let your sport be your identity.

Through it all, I had the best coaches and the best support system there for me because they knew how bad I wanted it this year. I wanted to repeat my state title, set a new PR in the hurdles, stay healthy, and most of all, be there for my team. Even now, I can still support my team, and that’s been a huge help during my injury. Seeing this team grow and achieve new personal bests has been so inspiring. With that being said, I will be back next year. Am I hungry to compete? Yes! 👟
