POTENTIATION CREATES PR’S.

Bands, are that potentiator.

Bands accelerate, eccentrically, faster than gravity.

As the late great Louis Simmons said,
“Stimulate don’t annihilate.”

As always, my training is not recommended for anyone except… those 1%’ers.

Damerjian Out.

Brew City Open crushed me yesterday! It was @jaccob_surron’s first meet and then I went in the afternoon. Jacob had an amazing first meet and even hit a PR clean and jerk. Myself, well, I’ve had better meets lol. Opened with and easy 90kg on snatch, then hit 95kg but tweaked something in my right leg. Went for a third attempt at 100kg and really felt something in the bottom position. I needed to hit a 182kg total for the Arnold in March but was having trouble bearing weight, much less doing a clean and jerk. I hit 80kg then 90kg which qualified me then I declined my third attempt. The good news is that Jacob had a fun first meet and I got qualified for the Arnold. Now I’m gonna focus on some lame bodybuilding for the next few weeks and let my legs recover and get healthy. We’ll see how long I can bear to do that lol. As always, huge thanks to @attitudenation for the programming, @mkebarbell for putting on a great meet, and @zach_kunda and @funkierdogg for counting for me, and beautiful wife @skinsourceaesthetics and @elisaduranso for coming to watch us compete 💪😃

Eccentric- a muscle lengthening under tension. In body building eccentric training is known as “negative” training because your loading the muscle after contracting it through time under tension (TUT). Think bicep curl, you curl the dumbbell towards you shoulder, and at an even slower pace(like at least a 3 sec count), return the dumbbell so your arm is extended.
Or how about this lift as an example?! (YAY!!!)
We start with a pull shrug and get into a low hang position via tempo, a 4 second count. We’re reloading the potential energy like a wind up car as we get to our designated depth and we launch that bitch like, BOOM!!! Mofo!!!
Why eccentric/negative training in Oly training? Mainly, own the positions, positional strengthening and… it’s a fun way to make a weight heavier without adding weights to it. There’s more to it but I’ll leave you with that. Plus this was just a great way to show you how awesome my tempo game is. 💪🏻😘

I should’ve dropped this mash up first, eh? Oh well. lol. We had to do a tempo snatch, 4 seconds ascending and an eccentric tempo for the clean after doing a pull shrug. It was fun and very satisfying. We had muscle snatches too, but that’s for another reel.

Throwback Monday — 11 Years Later.

Looking back at these pictures hits differently now.

In 2015, I earned my CrossFit Level 1 and attended the Attitude Nation Weightlifting Seminar. At the time, I knew I loved fitness, but I don’t think I fully understood where that passion would take me or how many people I would eventually have the opportunity to impact.

I wrote back then that it would be an honor and a privilege to help someone accomplish what they’ve always wanted through fitness.

11 years later, I still feel exactly the same way.

Coaching has become so much more than teaching movements, writing workouts, counting reps, or pushing someone through one more round.

It’s watching someone do something they once thought was impossible.

It’s seeing confidence grow.

It’s watching someone become stronger physically and mentally.

It’s being there when someone decides they’re not giving up on themselves.

And knowing I get to play even a small part in that journey is something I’ll never take for granted.

I’m incredibly grateful and blessed that all these years later, I still get to coach, learn, grow, and help people chase their goals and become versions of themselves they may not have believed were possible yet.

The younger version of me wanted to make a difference through fitness.

Today, I get to live it.

And I’m nowhere near finished.

Here’s to continuing to learn, continuing to serve, and continuing to help people crush goals, chase dreams, and realize just how capable they really are.

This is why I coach. ❤️

I’m not done with powerlifting but my respect for weightlifting has always made it a big aspiration. WEIGHTLIFTING not CrossFit 🙄

I hope you guys will enjoy and follow along, I’ll try to keep it PG and complaining at a minimum but no guarantees

I’ve been in some training of the best training environments imaginable throughout my weightlifting career. None of them compare to what the max out sessions had to close out the 3rd Dozer Weightlifting camp.
-
This session made it clear what my purpose in this sport, to bring people together and create an environment that is not replaceable. Some potential huge news coming soon for the next camp. I can’t wait to share.
