Oh baby!🐒

After a long 5 and a half months, beautiful mama squirrel monkey (Saimiri sciureus) has surprised us on a lovely cold October morning with her sweet little baby.

As primate babies usually hold on to mum for the first few months of life, we won’t know the gender until the baby is a little bit older. But the main thing is, mum and baby are doing extremely well and the whole team are over the moon for the squirrel monkey group!🐒

Squirrel monkeys are extremely sociable so mum has a great big network to help her out. The others will teach the baby valuable skills over time such as foraging, vocalising, playing and any of their natural behaviours!

Huge congratulations to our squirrel monkey troop!🐵

A photo dump of the last few months. Megumi (black cat) turned 3. We adopted Kaiju (tabby). We went to Fantasy Forest again and dressed up twice. I got a zoo keeper experience for my birthday. We went and watched the British Touring cars championship. Then we went to Thailand. All of these things have been wonderful. I am so lucky to have been able to experience everything. Thank you to the friends and family that joined us on our adventures. 💚

A wee change of scenery from the kitchen setup. Nothing beats hitting the outdoors, setting up camp, and cooking out in the wild with the family. Lovely place here at @auchingarrich with plenty for the kids and small trek to venture out.

Stayed for 2 nights and the @coleman_uk cool box lasted with still some ice left in it once we got home.

@coleman_uk tent a joy at setting up and packing away as always, I'm considering the extension for it...are they worth it? Drop your answer in the box below👇🏼

🔊 Volume up for inquisitive monkey noises!

Listen to our squirrel monkeys (Saimiri sciureus) as they explore their fresh browse! 🌿

Did you know that squirrel monkeys have a very fascinating way of communicating with one another? They use a combination of vocalisations, body language, facial expressions, scent and touch to keep in contact with their troop. They have a wide range of calls, including sounds used to alert others to potential danger, maintain contact with the group and express excitement or distress.

They’ll also use subtle body movements and social interactions to communicate with their companions. So even when they appear to be quietly enjoying their browse, there’s often plenty of conversation going on! 🌿

Providing natural browse encourages these clever little primates to use their senses and natural behaviours, making enrichment an important part of their daily lives💚

Our two beautiful babies are loving their milk bottles at the moment! Watch as one of the keepers feeds beautiful Mr ‘Greedy face’ his bottle, and as his fake name suggests, he’s super greedy!!! (new names pending a customer naming competition!😅)

Want a chance to feed a baby cow? 🐮

Come visit the farm today to book our 1 - 1 calf feeding sessions! The moo’s would love to meet you 🍼
