Playing with flash and a slow shutter speed for a birthday party at Gran Torino (@grantorinonyc) in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NYC

⬇️ Comment “FLOW” below for camera settings

When you’re trying to capture the vibe under party lights, a slow shutter lets you create light trails and color smudges for that energetic, flowing feeling. Then it’s just a matter of placing yourself at the right angles (looking for light sources to drag around), watching for people’s energy, and having fun!

Shot in the Gap of Dunloe along the famous Ring of Kerry where sheep cover the green and brown hills, inspiring a photoshoot effortlessly pulling together wool, scenery, color, warmth, and strength. This bright cashmere scarf from a family-run shop (@sweatershopirl) in Dublin felt right at home in the bold landscape.

An absolutely stunning place! Have you visited the Gap of Dunloe?

There’s something about Ireland that just feels cinematic. With sheep across almost every hillside, it’s hard not to notice how present wool and cashmere are here.

While exploring the south, we drove through the Gap of Dunloe and had to pull over. The landscape felt almost unreal. As photographers, we couldn’t resist stopping to shoot.

We brought along this bright cashmere scarf from a small family-run shop in Dublin, and it worked beautifully against all that deep green, brown, and yellow.

“Metamorphosis” by Marco Gallotta (@marcogallotta) in collaboration with Ventana (@thisisventana) is now a permanent installation at CUT by Wolfgang Puck (@cutnewyorkcity). Stop by for a drink and a bite, and take in this extraordinary piece for yourself.

A true pleasure to capture portraits for Marco Gallotta (@marcogallotta) for the unveiling of his piece “Metamorphosis” at CUT by Wolfgang Puck (@cutnewyorkcity) last year. “Metamorphosis” is a stunning fusion of Marco’s signature cut-out style and groundbreaking microLED tech from Ventana (@thisisventana).

For these shots, we used a super simple setup with an Amaran 200x S (@amarancreators) and an 34 inch parabolic (@smallrig.global). A technical note: while we are calling this a “single light” setup, it’s technically a bit more than that, as there was a lot of ambient light (such as the bright red decorative lighting of the bar) providing fill and rim.
