Catching up with Beverly lately… it is a truly great time in the field of Buchanan Studies.

As @rmmatalon puts it to the artist in her beautiful, epistolary essay “Dear Beverly, Dear Dionne,” “You are no longer alive, but you are very much still here.”

Coincidentally (or not!) I came home from seeing Rebecca’s show Divination: Beverly Buchanan & Dionne Lee at @camhouston last week to a copy of Beverly Buchanan: Ruination and Regeneration. I am honored to have contributed to it alongside colleagues/mentors/idols/friends, a long-incubating project shepherded into being under the steady and thoughtful hand, mind, and eye of @aureliebw at @andrewedlingallery. Thank you so much for offering me the opportunity to think about BB’s shack sculptures, which “relate to but are not reproductions of” the buildings she documented and honored with her work.

Beverly Buchanan: Ruination and Regeneration is available on September 29 through @artbook and wherever books are sold, it is lush (with so much goodness from @archivesamerart!) and gorgeous (cc: @delmonico_books @mikomcginty) and I basically can’t put it down. In the meantime of course there’s excellent reading to do in the beautiful Divination catalogue by Rebecca and @f_magazine, the tender and informative recent book by Mo Costello and Katz Tepper, and Jack Halberstam’s Anarchitecture After Everything, which I’ve been eagerly anticipating for years now.

BB forever!!! 🩶

✨ We had a great time at the show, Afterlife that Paul curated at Andrew Edlin Gallery this past week. Artists from all decades of our lives showed up to see the artists in the show that were celebrated after they were alive. It was very poignant to see friends that we’ve exhibited & supported in some way over the years.
✨👉Scroll to see the living & the artists who are no longer with us but their work is eternal.

In her recent review for @whitehotmagazine "Ecstatic Interconnections: Domenico Zindato or the Poetics of Painting," @cocodolle writes that our publication “On the Dotted Line” presents Zindato’s work "as both a material process and a means of mapping the interwoven relations that shape lived and imagined worlds.”

The book features an interview between the artist and Aurélie Bernard Wortsman, an essay by scholar Julián Sánchez González, and over 30 plates of recent works, along with images from the artist's archive. You can order by following the link in our story.
