The survey will close on 2 October. Link in bio 👆 We look forward to bringing you the results. … Australian craft & design practitioners: your experience matters. We’re building a national picture of craft and design practice in Australia — and we need your voice. This survey is an ADC Legacy Project, funded by Australian Design Centre in collaboration with the Australian Craft and Design Centres (ACDC Network), NAVA and Craft Australia. The data collected will help sector organisations advocate for practitioners and make a stronger case for funding, opportunities, education, business support and policy change. As ADC closes its doors after six decades of supporting Australian craft and design, this research is one part of the legacy we’re leaving behind: useful evidence that can help the sector advocate for its future. The survey takes 9–12 minutes and is completely anonymous. Kate Beynon in ‘Talismanic: the Robe & Friends’ at the Australian Tapestry Workshop 👁️ 🐉 🐲 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Bringing together key elements from the artist’s interdisciplinary practice, Kate Beynon’s solo exhibition ‘Talismanic: the Robe & Friends’ is currently on view at The Australian Tapestry Workshop (ATW), South Melbourne. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Shaped by storytelling and auspicious imagery, the artworks on display reflect the hybrid Cantonese Malaysian/Welsh and Afro-Caribbean/ Indigenous-Mexican Pima ancestries of the family collective TudoFam, as Beynon depicts supernatural portraits and spirit figures to project otherworldly visions in solidarity with positive social change. Half way thru week 2 at my residency at @austapestry - having a very lovely time. Everyone is very nice and very knowledgeable la la la la la!! I’m doing a self help workshop here on Saturday August 22 from 1 - 4 you should come if you want to. Bring an object you are ready to compost into something new. You’ll shed whatever you need to shed, exfoliate that part of ur psyche that needs a good scrub, name the rot and let it be. You’ll get to leave with a physical-ish digital-ish work in progress that you can take home and show your friends and or therapist/s. Molto bene? Tickets avail on the @austapestry website xx

Meanwhile in Melbourne, textile artist Desire Moheb-Zandi (@desiremohebzandi ) has begun her residency as the 2026 Hancock Fellowship Artist in Residence at the renowned Australian Tapestry Workshop (@austapestry ), where she is developing a new body of work in close collaboration with the workshop’s master weavers. Celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, the Australian Tapestry Workshop continues to be one of the world’s leading centres for contemporary tapestry, bringing together artists and exceptional weaving expertise in a truly unique creative environment. Tomorrow, 1 August, Desire will be in conversation with Sophie Prince (@sophieprince ), Curator at the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art (@acca_melbourne ), reflecting on her residency, her practice and the dialogue between contemporary art and tapestry. “It has been a dream of mine to undertake this residency. An exciting new project is underway at the Australian Tapestry Workshop: the creation of Maree Clarke and Mitch Mahoney’s monumental 7 x 3 metre tapestry, ‘The Rhythm of the Reeds’. Commissioned for the Australian National Academy of Music’s (ANAM) new $11O million home at the South Melbourne Town Hall, the artwork will take eight months to complete. A dedicated team of eight weavers, dyeing specialists, and support staff are currently bringing the piece to life, using 25O custom-dyed shades of Victorian wool. Floras Localis: Colour + Place brings together practitioners connected by a shared exploration of colour, materiality and place. Combining natural dyeing and circular design methodologies, the works develop hyper local palettes drawn directly from the Australian landscape through foraged, found, and reclaimed materials. The exhibition surveys how colour emerges from natural and urban environments. Revealing how natural hues can embody place and carry the narratives embedded within them. The resulting works offer new insights into current sustainable design methodologies and imagine future production possibilities. Unfolding as a series of textiles, ceramics, jewellery and vessels that trace the dialogue between design and site.
