Feeling so grateful this Monday morning 🫶 Grateful that I get to share what God has done in my life and that He uses it to encourage others. Grateful for friendships and other birth moms and adoptees who get it. Grateful that I get to travel. Grateful that I get to have a job that uses my creativity and lived experiences.

Even if it takes me out of my comfort zone.

I have to admit, I was nervous preparing for speaking at @replantedministry. It was the largest audience I’ve spoken in front of so far, but my cheerleader of a best friend @the.raquelmccloud reminded me “You know your story, just pretend it’s another coaching call.” So that’s what I did.

I shared my testimony of surrendering my life and Kaylee’s life in His hands 22 years ago. I shared snapshots of how Kaylee’s adoptive parents loved me well throughout the years. I hope her parents know one day in Heaven how many lives their actions and words have changed other families and hearts because they cared for me and Kaylee well.

And then I got to breakdown our story even more and give perspective on open adoption throughout different stages in a breakout session. I love the dialogue that comes with breakouts! I was also on a panel with @anna.bernacki and @austinludwig that was so insightful.

I got to hear from other perspectives, including @zawadimorrow whom I haven’t seen since college days at App State. So neat 20+ years later to be in similar circles sharing our adoption stories for the Lord. His story was incredible ❤️ I’m grateful conferences like Replanted gives stories like ours space to share.

I ended the trip in Chicago O’Hare airport where Home Alone 2 was filmed so that was cool 🙂

Thank you to my hubby @outtama_design_labs for being so supportive of this calling and keeping the house together (often even better than I do!) while I’m away. I couldn’t do this without you. Thank you to my friends and co-laborers in this mission who lift me up when I need it. 🫶

This past week I had the privilege of attending the CAFO Conference. Together we worshiped, fellowshipped, and strategized alongside incredible partners from across the nation. I got to learn heroes in the child welfare space who have dedicated their lives to serving children and families.

I am thankful for every partner, every conversation, every prayer, and every new friendship. Most of all, I am grateful to the Lord for opening doors, providing wisdom, and allowing me to witness what He is doing through His people.

I walk into this week encouraged, challenged, and filled with hope. The work ahead is significant, but so is the opportunity before us. This is just the beginning, and I cannot wait to see what the Lord has in store.

From manna in the wilderness to loaves and fishes, Scripture tells the story of a God who doesn’t operate from scarcity. He provides, multiplies, and so often gives beyond what we imagined.

That’s why we believe more than enough is possible for vulnerable children. It’s not because it sounds hopeful, but because we believe it’s true. We are loved by the God of abundance, so we love others with confidence in His character.

Taking a step of faith doesn’t mean knowing exactly how everything will unfold. It means trusting that the God who calls you will also sustain you.

Foster care and adoption may be difficult, but families do not have to walk the journey alone. There is hope. There is help. And when God invites us to step toward vulnerable children, He is faithful to provide the people, resources, and strength we need along the way.

As leaders, we’re often focused on helping others heal, grow, and flourish. But before we can faithfully care for the people entrusted to us, we have to ask a difficult question: Who’s helping us make sense of our own story?
