Middle grade book recommendation that I absolutely adored and now my middle schooler is reading too!! 💗 Not if You Break Up with Me First by G.F. Miller A sweet story of childhood best friends. They make it to 8th grade and things get awkward (muscles and armpit hair - weird!). Everyone is pairing up. So obviously they should too - with each other. Only it’s a complete disaster. This book takes you through everything middle school - from crushes and friendships to fights and rumor mills. And then? We are rewarded with the sweetest most perfect grand gesture ending. Do yourself a favor and add this to your TBR rn. *Age rating based on publisher suggestions. #middlegradebooks #kidlit

This was such a cute and heartfelt YA romance! I really enjoyed how the story incorporates AI and chatbots, making it feel relevant to the world teenagers are growing up in today. I also loved that Eve is the one with the higher social status (cheerleader) compared to Andrew. It’s refreshing to see this dynamic reversed for once! One of my favorite things was the Rules for the Friendzone. I think it’s such a relatable concept because, when we’re young, we tend to make all these little rules and lists about friendship and love to protect ourselves from getting hurt. I also think this is a great read for younger readers! It explores friendship, first love and the complicated transition from being best friends to potentially becoming something more, all while keeping things lighthearted and sweet! And if you didn’t know, there’s another book that connects to this story, so you can choose to read it before or after this one! Overall, if you’re looking for a cute, feel-good romance about friendship, growing up and figuring out your feelings, this one might be for you!
