In view of Ava Tribuson Ovsenik's second solo exhibition with VIN VIN which will take place in late Spring, we are glad to share a work from the artist's recent body of works.

Inspired by the forms and materials of 16th-century Cabinets of Curiosities (Wunderkammern), Display, Fissure draws from early repositories of wonder and desire, where collectable objects became both spectacle and possession.
By removing the objects themselves, the display structure transforms into a sculptural one.

Display, Fissure operates between painting and sculpture. Its frontal view suggests a painting—defined by proportion, surface, and tone—while shadow takes over the role of paint. Depth and construction create a sculptural relief. The work engages both pictorial and spatial perception, transforming the structure into an object that is simultaneously image and form.

Ava Tribuson Ovsenik
(b. Ljubljana, 1997) holds an MA from the Royal College of Art (2023). She presented her first solo exhibition with VIN VIN in 2024 and her first institutional solo at UGM Maribor in December 2024.
