We are excited to announce that Oddaný will be re-opening our renovated exhibition room with ‘Work and Object’, showcasing works from our resident studio artists: @jana.papantoniou.art @j03ydi110n @4ft_gremlin @cordialcanvases @l_u_c_y_a_p_f_e_l @p34r1l @c0c0ccc0 Through a series of ‘objects’ and ‘works’ the exhibition deals in unresolved representations of a work in its varied stages of completion, curated by Ava Leach-Absalom and Pearl Reilly-Murray. In addition to re-opening our doors for 2026, we are launching Oddaný Bookstore - a store featuring a selection of titles from local and independent publishers. We are looking forward to sharing the details of this expansion soon. Come celebrate the re-opening of our space and its new additions Thursday February 19th 6-9pm. ~ This new iteration of Oddaný Gallery has been made possible by the support of the Merri-Bek Council (@artsmerri_bek), through funding from the Organisational Establishment Grant, and the in-kind design labour of Dexter Percival Cobb and the construction execution by Will Uthmeyer, Jesse Browne, and friends.

‘Silently, childhood’s crystalline paths sank in the garden.’ 24.04.25 to 09.05.25 This exhibition attempts to locate that sunken garden which George Trakl imagines in his poem Memory (Fragment), 1914; to inhabit Trakl’s poetic sensibilities, to translate its tonal qualities into visual and spatial form. A world of interwoven impressions and peculiar scenes which have the essence of universality––a shared bodily knowledge of the world. The house which Trakl describes, whose veiled windows overlook the bleak branches of the old tree, is a place we feel we have been before. But in the same breath, it is a place we feel we have forgotten, each time we try to reproduce the image, it distorts. This distortion, in fragments and impressions, is rendered inaccessible by the limits of our remembrance and objectivity. The sunken garden must rest, then, between the act of recitation and the diffusion of an image into a permanent past. It is a unification of practices which interface with memory and its fragmentation through time. To suspend, for a moment, the processes of decay; in what is an imperfect atonement for forgetting.
