🎬 THE WIDOW’S BAY REVIEW (2026)

⭐ IMDb Rating: 8.2/10

Imagine Parks and Rec crashed into an eerie New England folk horror nightmare—that’s The Widow’s Bay on Apple TV+.

The setup? A well-meaning, oblivious mayor (Matthew Rhys) tries to turn his remote island into a trendy tourist spot. The catch? The island is violently cursed by 17th-century demonic evils, and the locals are frantically hiding the body count to save local business. Directed by Hiro Murai, it’s a brilliant, bizarre mix of workplace comedy and genuine scares.

🏆 SPECIAL MENTION: THE CAST

The show lives or dies on its killer character dynamics. Matthew Rhys is gold as the deeply stressed, skeptical mayor. Kate O’Flynn steals every scene as his painfully awkward assistant with a dark past, and the legendary Stephen Root is flawless as the grizzled local screaming about blood pacts.

🟢 WHY WATCH:

The Vibe: It manages to be genuinely creepy one second and laugh-out-loud funny the next.

Monster-of-the-Week: Every episode brings a creative new supernatural threat.

🔴 WHY MISS:

Tonal Whiplash: If you don’t like dry bureaucratic jokes mixed with severed limbs, the tone might frustrate you.

On April 24, 2006, the original cast of Rent reunited for a one-night-only concert in honor of the 10th Anniversary. After the performance, the current cast at the time came out on stage along with dozens of alumni from Broadway and several touring productions to sing an encore version of Seasons of Love. Enjoy the video. Were you at this concert? Let us know in the comments. See if you can spot some of your favorite Rent alums.

I have a BIG audition for a commercial tomorrow and it has a lot of particular requests. I have so many questions. Of course, I can't go to the casting director to get the answers (!) so I just worked with Ava Gaudet to help prep for it. She has been sharing amazing audition tips on her Instagram. She knows her stuff.

I first met Ava at my very first Boston Casting class - Acting for Film - and have kept in touch with her over the past couple of years.

She has been in the biz for a couple of decades now and her experience includes a stint on Ugly Betty and she is going to be in the upcoming Widow's Bay on Apple TV which premieres next month.

Find out about her coaching here:

Oh, fingers crossed I get the job - I will let you know. You know I will. 😊
