baby blu matcha latte from @average_service 🩵🍵 it’s a very unique drink and tbh, i’ve not seen any matcha cafes come up with this yet! i would rate it a 8/10, perfect balance of everything! i would love to try other drinks from their menu too! loved the ambience & it’s really work-friendly. had a great solo time in here for about 2.5hrs 😆😬

🇸🇬 𝙎𝙂 — @average_service 🥓

it’s been a while since my last visit… so i had to see how it held up 👀

Here’s what I ordered 👇
🍝 𝗠𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗶 𝗛𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗸𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗲𝗳 𝗣𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗮 — the pasta itself was cooked well, but the sauce leaned more towards a creamy sauce than mentaiko for me 🥲 i was hoping for a stronger mentai flavour. the bacon was pretty generous though.

🥩 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗸 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗘𝗴𝗴𝘀 ⭐️ — easily my favourite from the table 😮‍💨 the steak was cooked just right and stayed super tender, plus those sweet potato fries were sooo good.

🍚 𝗚𝗿𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗣𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗝𝗼𝘄𝗹 𝗖𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺𝘆 𝗦𝗰𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗥𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗕𝗼𝘄𝗹 — the pork jowl was nice and tender, but the crispy onions were honestly my favourite part 🤌 they added such a nice crunch and tied everything together.

🍞 𝗕𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗕𝘂𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 — loved the truffle and chilli butter the most 🌶️🧈 both were packed with flavour. personally found the sourdough a little too oily, though.

🍵 𝗗𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗸𝘀 — we also ordered the Dalgona Matcha Latte, Hojicha Latte with Matcha Foam, and Kyoto Mont Blanc. I only got to try the hojicha latte though 👀 wasn’t too sure about the combination at first, but it actually worked better than i expected. probably not my first pick, but it was fun to try.

✨ overall, not every dish was a hit for me, but i still enjoyed the space and the overall experience.

what we tried at average service!

🥓 thick slab bacon: our favourite! the scrambled eggs were fluffy and sourdough eggs had a slight buttery taste. we were shocked at how THICK the bacon was, which lived up to the name of the dish. the honey added a sweet savoury taste to the dish, will definitely order this again!

🍝 furikake garlic pasta: felt this was quite AVERAGE, like it’s just normal pasta, cooked with garlic, and topped with spring onions, so nothing special about it and can skip. the fusilli lunghi lowkey reminded us of maggi mee lol

🥔 potato wedges mentaiko: we got a complimentary side from reviewing them on google maps! but i preferred the garlic broccoli complimentary side that they had previously

🍵 baby blu matcha: got the matcha for takeaway so this picture was from a previous visit! but i absolutely love the matcha at average service, and would highly recommend the baby blu matcha which is lavender flavoured. i haven’t really seen cafes in sg selling lavender matcha in sg which makes this so unique

overall the ambience is average service is nice for a catch ups or studying! i have seen reviews saying that their service is average, but it’s decent to me lol. definitely a cafe that’s worth returning, especially for their matcha

Finally made my way to @average_service and I definitely get the hype!

The space has that cosy, old-school café feel that instantly makes you want to slow down and stay awhile. We spent a few hours here over good food and even better conversations, and somehow lost track of time.

The menu has a nice mix of savoury dishes and desserts, but the tiramisu was definitely the standout for me — light, creamy, and with just the right balance of coffee and cocoa flavours ✨

TLDR: definitely no average service nor experience to be expected here! would recommend this spot for catch ups or study sessions as they offer plugs 😁

truffle risotto with beef tenderloin ($28+)
— opted for medium well & surprisingly, the beef was still very tender as i was initially afraid that the meat would be too tough 😓 risotto had a nice texture & the truffle smell was so fragrant!

yakitori creamy scrambled rice bowl ($21+)
— rly like this!!! yakitori chicken was nicely marinated & tender while the scrambled egg was v creamy. this was a nice contrast to the heavier truffle risotto!

butterscotch latte maple sea salt cold foam ($8+)
— this drink was so yummy! their house blend beans had a nice chocolatey note & the touch of the sea salt cold foam complemented the entire drink really well.

they also provide a complimentary seasonal side of mentaiko potato wedges for every google review! overall, i’ll be back to try more of their food & personally really love their aesthetics 🫶🏻
