“Nothing comes or goes without a shadow” 🎶 And with that, my summer with @cstheatreworks has officially come to an end. This summer has been so special to me in so many ways. Before this, I was working a full-time job and going home with nothing to look forward to. In a way, these three shows gave me a sense of purpose. From finding a missing teacher, to getting my communication processor fixed, to wallowing in a shell of grief, this summer has taken me on so many adventures. Most notably, though, is the time I got to spend with so many incredible artists who I now consider to be some of my closest friends. I’m so honored and blessed to have met all of these people, and I can’t wait for the opportunity to work with them all again someday. My life may have returned to the hum-drum 9-to-5 routine in the past few days, but I will cherish the memories from this summer for the rest of my career. I love all from the bottom of my (Alice by) heart. ❤️ (some other people I couldn’t tag: @maxwellb3rner @scottricemusic @robin__schuler @caleb_ross_allegedly @_kgriffin83_ @cstovalll @audreyyshin @audballmurph @ian.the.doormouse @bella_mckay @mave.dar @nina_l_j @haemaebaebae @gretajoyknight @real_onekd @antitrumpet @marquisxmcbride @beyondonette )

This has been an eventful past month. So many wonderful performances and theatre to consume! So much to be proud of for everyone. So much life. 1 + 2) The La Tech Fall Festival of New Works: Invisible Voices (@ian.the.thing doing phenomenal work in two short plays and two films!) @techtheatredept 3) @landon_blanton in the absolutely most CREATIVE and innovative version of “Cabaret” I have ever seen at @utamusicaltheatre. Truly amazing work. (And he was incredible as Bobby!) got to see (and hug) @hannah.swaim_ and @brodiebeeacts_ too!! Sadly missed @emilyruth54 and @ellienunem but I will be there for Sweeney in the spring — wait??!! Could that be a new musical? “Sweeney in the Spring?” 4) Catty creating wonderful comedic characters for her prescreens! 5) shooting @hayy.stewart for his senior pics and watching him kill it at CAP in Atlanta! 6) The incomparable @_lailalj_ in what I believe is her most incredible vocal performance EVER in “Macabret” at @ucomusicaltheatre!! Her star is rising… 7) @thomasschnaible showing the world his comedic gifts in “Fly By Night.” @ttutheatredance produced an absolute gem of that show and I loved it more than the DTC version (which is saying a LOT! I have obsessed about that show since I saw it years ago!) 8) @sandyfeet45 and Veve on another adventure with me! (Usually involves Dutch Bros coffee, but not for Veve…pup cup only!) 9) @madwetsquirrel and @ian.the.thing at delicious brunch at Cotton in Monroe, La. 10) My mom was recently diagnosed with Rapid Progressive Dementia. This is the hardest thing I could have ever imagined. Trying to find ways to keep her and my dad stable and okay. Dealing with lawyers and financial stuff is not fun. Kind of wished I had taken at least a few business classes years ago…

Let’s meet our actors playing the hapless yet adorable Gertrude, Avery Murphy and Brooke Riley! (All of our principal roles are doubled for this production to help make sure the "show will go on!") AVERY MURPHY is entering University of Central Oklahoma this fall as a BM Musical Theatre major. Some of Avery’s favorite past roles were Ermengarde in “Hello, Dolly,” Alice in “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers,” and Lavender in “Matilda.” Avery has an adorable dog, Vivi, who she campaigned for to be the Elephant Bird in our show. (Unfortunately, Vivi did not pass the rigorous dance audition!) BROOKE RILEY is a longtime theatre fan and 10-year theatre teacher (currently in McKinney ISD). She went to Sam Houston State University for Musical Theatre and only after graduating realized she felt the call to teach instead of perform. She loves the story of sweet Gertrude but other roles and shows she has adored performing in include “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” (Logainne), “Songs For a New World” (Woman 2), “Little Women” (Jo), “Chicago” (June), “Evil Dead” (Shelly), and “Bare: A Pop Opera” (Claire). In her spare time, she’s a side hustle photographer and proud owner of a German Shepherd mix named Penny. This version of Seussical will combine improvisation, devised work, audience interaction and more into a unique presentation of this work. Seussical runs July 21-30 at Cox Playhouse in Plano. Tickets are now onsale and can be found at www.CSTheatreWorks.com. Seussical is licensed by Music Theatre International (MTI) Book by Lynn Ahrens & Stephen Flaherty Music by Stephen Flaherty Lyrics by Lynn Ahrens Co-Conceived by Eric Idle of Monty Python
