Progress comes in many forms! Coming home from a long rest, 21 years, we celebrate the small victories. ⁣
⁣
His first real day off in 3 weeks, and today Abdullah Tawfeeq (we call him TWIN) obtained his driver’s license! ⁣
⁣
Everyone deserves a second chance! ⁣
⁣
We created the platform to build resourceful humans as well as dope buildings. ⁣

Happy Birthday King (January 15, 1929)⁣
⁣
The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy. - Dr. King⁣
⁣
UFINC stands at this crossroad daily, knowing the freedom we seek is rooted in equity, the ability to re-shape community, and the challenge to will it to existence. ⁣

In partnership with Riviera Beach CDC we are utilizing the Urban Farmers model of community restoration to teach, rebuild, and sustain at 950 1st Street in the City of Riviera Beach. ⁣
⁣
The house was purchased back from foreclosure, we are upgrading the home; garage, central A/C, additional bathroom, sundeck, and replacement of plumb/electrical system. Through this process we teach formally incarcerated men and women basic construction. This on the job training model provides hands-on experience that directly translates into a new path, a new profession. ⁣
⁣
Just as important, the home will be sold to a moderate income family, more than likely a black family, seeking the American dream of wealth creation through real estate.⁣
⁣
We call this “the greatest social experiment ever” because we created a sustainable life cycle in the real estate development process that fufills three goals; the alleviation of blight, disruption of the criminal justice system, and providing quality affordable housing.....⁣

In 2019 in the United States of America we are still making first. Today we salute Jerrell Harris, VP of Development for Urban Farmers Inc. ⁣
⁣
In the history of the state of Michigan, Jerrell is the FIRST African American to lead the state planners association. My brother and friend is the President! ⁣
⁣
To put this into context, Planners shape and mold communities, especially communities of color! Harris has been one of the keys to UFINC success. ⁣
⁣
During a friends and family gathering to honor and praise his success, He takes the time out to honor those that helped him along his journey. ⁣This is truly reflective of his heart!
⁣
We thank you for all of your hard work and sacrifice!
