I think we can get so good at looking inward that we can forget to look outward again.

There is always another course, another modality, another layer to explore. And sometimes, without even realising it, healing can become the place we stay because searching feels safer than stepping forward into life and actually living it. Because the strange thing about growth is that the unknown can feel more uncomfortable than the pain we already know.

When we’ve spent years adapting to chaos, uncertainty, or survival mode, peace can feel unfamiliar.

Not because there is anything wrong with it, but because our body hasn’t learnt that it’s safe yet. That’s what it’s felt like for me, anyway.

Healing was never meant to be the place we spend our whole lives trying to arrive at. It was meant to bring us back to life.

This video was taken on the final night of the @we.are.ipa retreat in Bali in May, at the white party.✨

It’s hard to believe that just a week before, we had all arrived as individuals, each carrying our own stories, our own experiences, and our own reasons for being there. But by that final night, something had shifted. There was a sense of connection that doesn’t always come easily in everyday life. The kind that happens when people give themselves permission to be seen, to be present, and to meet each other beyond the surface.

It’s one of the things I love most about retreat spaces. When people feel safe enough to truly show up as themselves, something shifts. Genuine connection begins to grow. Walls soften. People remember who they are beneath everything they’ve been carrying. And it’s a beautiful thing to witness.

Maybe the bravest thing isn’t just surviving what goes wrong. Maybe it’s allowing yourself to stay present when something finally goes right.

I’m realising there is no “after” in healing. There is only a widening capacity to meet life as it comes, with more compassion, more grace, and a little more trust than before.

Because belonging doesn’t begin when we finally become the person we think we should be.

It begins when we choose to belong to ourselves, including the parts that are still struggling, uncertain, and beautifully human. 🤍🌸
