(read more about them in my last post) Strolled around Windermere, Hawkshead, Coniston, Ambleside Massage and spa time at @armathwaitespa ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🍽 WHERE I ATE: Hotels☝🏼 (they were included in the room rate) Blacksmiths Arms in Broughton-in-Furness (best meal of the trip!) Herdwicks Café in Coniston for grab-and-go coffee The Cornish Bakery in Windermere for pasties ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 🤍

Finally crossed a big UK destination off my must-go list: Lake District National Park 🇬🇧 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Five days of walks, hikes, sheep sightings and fresh air in this incredible part of the country was exactly what I didn’t know I needed 🌿 And a spa day to ring in my birthday made it extra special 🧖‍♀️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ More to come 🤍

INTRO TIME 🤍 I’ve seen a lot of new names and faces here the last little while, so I thought I’d take a minute to say a huge HELLO and introduce myself! 😊 ✨ I’m Lauren – I am from Toronto but have been living in London since late 2015. I’ve also briefly called Switzerland and the US home 🏠 ✨ I’ve been working full-time as a communications and project manager – but creating travel content is something I really enjoy doing in my spare time 🌍 ✨ I love cooking and trying new restaurants – though I’m pretty useless at baking. Italian food is my absolute favourite – and probably always will be 🍝 ✨ I am also a Friends fanatic and a dog person, can usually be found in an oversized sweater, make a mean pisco sour, prefer swimming in lakes to oceans, thoroughly enjoy snowboarding, can speak some French, prefer underbaked cookies, write a lot of to do lists, and have the very best friends in the world ♥️ Thank you SO MUCH for being here 🙏 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Now over to you! It’s finally happened – and about to keep happening. I have a visitor in London and more coming! 🇬🇧 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Five amazing friends from Canada and the US will be here at different times over the next month and I’m absolutely over the moon about it 🤍 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I love hosting and showing people around when they’re in town. I’ll happily spend hours compiling recommendations, building itineraries and booking things to make sure they have the best time. And no trip will ever be the same. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But because of COVID I’ve been sliiiiiightly out of practice! 😅 I’ve been attempting to flex these muscles again and fashion some fresh thoughts and ideas for these lovely few 👯‍♀️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ And it got me thinking – would it be helpful if I shared these here? Bringing you some more discoveries and favourites I went to last month in London – but this time they’re all in my neighbourhood 😊👇🏼 ✨ HACKNEY COTERIE (@hackneycoterie): a friend organised a group dinner here and I’m so glad she picked it. I was instantly sold after hearing it served a 5-course tasting menu for £35 – so unheard of in this city! The food was great and the staff were incredibly knowledgeable, passionate and attentive. We even got a wine pairing created for us on the spot since it was pretty quiet. ✨ BOBO & WILD (@boboandwild): a cute and cozy neighbourhood café across from a huge park that’s pretty much guaranteed to be filled with dogs. The brunch options are very good (especially the Turkish eggs!) and the owner (who’s named Bobo) is so friendly. It’s a great spot to catch up with a friend or for a pit stop on a walk down Regent’s Canal. ✨ HECTOR’S (@hectorslondon): had to save the best for last! This tiny neighbourhood bottle shop and wine bar has been my favourite recent discovery and I couldn’t recommend it more. If you’re looking to have a relaxed and casual Friday evening out with a few friends, then this is definitely the spot for you. Do any of these catch your eye? Which one sounds the most appealing?

If I don’t write something down, I’m almost certainly bound to forget it 😂 This is why I loooooove a “to do” list and why I usually make an itinerary before I travel 🗓 But something I really need to do more of is log tips and notes right after each trip while they’re top of mind 🧠 So in an attempt to get better at this, here are some Dorset tips we picked up on the way 🌊👇🏼 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ✨ Rent a car so you can get around easily ✨ Leave really early from London to beat traffic and maximise your day ✨ Pack snacks since some trails won’t have any options along the way ✨ Layer carefully since the weather can change on a dime ✨ Download the AllTrails app for loads of options and detail ✨ Wear proper hiking shoes! Ground conditions can vary so trainers won’t do ✨ Bring a portable charger – taking photos and navigating will deplete your battery ✨ Consider swinging into Winchester on the way back to London – it’s so lovely there! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Maybe some of these are blindingly obvious 😂 but hopefully they’re still somewhat helpful! 🤍

Did you know I used to have a travel blog? 🌍 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It was called eyes ears mouth and lens – the only 4 things I need to explore and appreciate a new place. It was a small creative outlet that I started in 2011 after a trip to Asia with one of my best friends. I had taken thousands of pics there and wanted to do something a bit more meaningful with them besides creating a Facebook album 😂 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Nurturing that space became one of my favourite things to do 💕 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But then I got a 9-5 which made me want to spend what little time I had to myself away from a computer screen 🖥 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I still wanted to have a creative outlet though so I turned to IG and that’s what this channel became for me – and still is 📸 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But then life shit hit the fan. And then again and again. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ For so long I’ve not had proper headspace to consistently create. And if I did, I just couldn’t bring myself to post about travel when I was going through what I was. This feels painfully trivial and almost wrong to write about now given what horrific things are going on in the world. What’s happened to me absolutely pales in comparison 😢 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I’m all about silver linings and looking for good in bad situations though – so I’m going to try to turn my latest one into an opportunity 🤞🏼 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ That means (hopefully) more consistent travel content will come. So if you’re up for that, stick around. And if you’re not, no hard feelings 🤍
